Michelle once said in an interview that one of the people she admires most and would like to meet, is the Dalai Lama, because of his serenity in the face of life's travails.

Here is a statue of Kwan Yin, the Buddhist Goddess of of Compassion and Mercy.

The Kwan Yin pledge:

"Never will I seek nor receive private, individual salvation; never will I enter into final peace alone; but forever and everywhere will I live and strive for the redemption of every creature throughout the world from the bonds of conditioned existence."

Now it's REALLY the Kwan Yin Shrine thread!

I have a beautiful statue of her in purple lucite, watching over the world peace bowl (it's a big bowl w/stones and other small items from all over the world) on an altar in a corner of my apartment. AND there's a picture of the Dalai Lama in a nearby collage.
All the thread needed was an actual shrine.
