Elene Gedevanishvili....

I think I probably spelled that wrong, but anyhow, she's a young skater from the Republic of Georgia and has been doing well of late on the Junior circuit. I expected to see results from her at Europeans, but she's nowhere to be found. Am I right that Georgia would compete at Europeans? If I'm right, then does anyone who follows the Juniors closer than I do know where she is (she might be too young for senior Euros)?

She's only 14 -- turns 15 in July -- so she won't be eligible to skate at Euros till next season. Or possibly the season after that, depending on what exactly the age requirements have to be. I lost track at some point over the last couple of years.

Elene Gedevanishvili finished 7th in a field of 25 at the European Youth Olympic Festival held in Switzerland this past week (skaters born between July 1, 1988 and June 30, 1990). I found these final results posted at FSU:

She will be eligible to compete in ISU Championships (Europeans, Worlds) in 2005-06 and the 2006 Olympics (rule is skater must turn 15 by July 1, 2005).

You're right!! Her birthday is in January!! I saw the 7.01.1990 on her biography and being a typical American, read it as July 1st instead of January 7. If her birthday was on the 23rd or something, I would have picked up right away. Or at least I would hope so.
