    1980's

My husband (bless his little heart) found some vintage 1980's skating DVDs called "Figure Skating Superstars" Katarina Witt & Friends and Brian Boitano and Friends, for me as a gift. If you want to take a trip down skating memory lane I would suggest getting these dvds. The featured skaters are:
    Brian Boitano
    Christopher Bowman
    Victor Petrenko
    Alexander Fadeev
    Katarina Witt
    Tonya Harding
    Midorie Ito
    Debi Thomas
    Elizabeth Manley
    Tiffany Chin
    Gordeeva & Grinkov
    Kilmova & Ponomarenko
    Velova & Vasiliev
    Mishkutenok & Dmitriev
    Bestemianova & Bukin
    Semanick & Gregory
    Watson & Oppegard
    Duchesnay's
    Wilson & McCall

The highlights for me were seeing Midori Ito's HUGH triple/triple.
    Klimova & Ponomarenk "Swan Lake".
Tonya Harding's bad choreography, but what a jumper.

I wasn't following skating during the times the performances on those tapes were done, so I really enjoyed getting and watching them awhile ago...mine are on VHS.

I love Midori. But that is one gawd awful version of "Somewhere Out There" she skated too.

Unfortunately, Boitano's skating, pre-Sandra Bezic, is incredibly cringe worthy.

Didn't he skate to Michael Jackson once?

Skating choreography has come a long way since the 1980's. That's what makes these dvds so fun to watch.

Most all of the skaters choreography is incredibly cringe worthy

I think I actually have a similar version of this in VHS form. It doesn't have Midori Ito or Boitano, but it does have a lot of clips from the 1987 Champions on Ice Tour and the '86 and '88 SA Exhibitions (with an equally disturbing clip of Viktor Petrenko skating to Bananarama's "Venus" )
