I'm trying to become a student of COP since that is the judging system in place now, and probably for the forseeable future. It is focused on the top 12 (IMO) Ladies in the World, EXCLUDING Michelle and Sasha as they have not been judged under COP this year. My bet is that both of them will end up in the final group for the LP at World's, but I just don't have enough info to even speculate (for me anyway) how they might score. All of my analysis is based on high COP scores from the 2004 / 2005 season. If a skater's "high score" on their data sheet is from last year, I tried to seek out their high scores from this year.
This thread is meant for FUN. This thread is NOT meant to start a debate about whether COP or 6.0 is better. It is NOT meant to start a debate on legitimate concerns about Sekret Judging, similar PCS scores, etc.
I'm also hoping that as part of the fun, some of you might correct me if I've made errors. Call me crazy, but I'm getting my big ol' 3-ring binder ready for World's. My fingers just might be fatter than an ISU judge.
OK. Here goes. Copy and paste this next section in your reply with your answers - and let us know whether your answers are from research or a guess. LOL, MY answers after research were different in many areas than my guesses would have been.
Here are the 12 skaters whose scores I included:
Ando
Arakawa
Kirk
Kostner
Lisahenko
Phaneuf
Poykio
Rochette
Sebestyen
Slutskaya
Sokolova
Suguri
List your top 4 guesses or actuals in each category:
1) Top 4 SP scores.
2) Top 4 LP scores.
3) Top 4 TES scores in SP.
4) Top 4 TES scores in LP.
5) Top 4 Jump scores in SP.
6) Top 4 Jump scores in LP.
7) Top 4 Non-jump element scores in SP.
8) Top 4 Non-jump element scores in LP.
9) Top 4 PCS scores in SP.
10) Top 4 PCS scores in LP.
11) Top 4 Rank if you add each skater's best SP to best LP (different comps OK)
Edited to remove duplicate questions (DUH moment)
16) Highest "Best Of Both" Jump score.
17) HIghest "Best Of Both" Non-jump element score.
It's very possible that I've lost many folks by now LOL! That's OK. I will provide the answers as I came up with them tomorrow (Tues) evening. If it's not completely obvious by now that I TOTALLY need something to do between US Nats and Worlds, I'm not sure what else would demonstrate that!!
