Sasha dresses for Rach, but not her rack

So flat, so deeply V, so very, very wrong. Is it too late for her to go back to her Star Trek uniform for the Rach?

Hey, I like the retro star trek dress.......the design around the shoulders and neck looks great when she does her headless scratch spin.

If I had my way about it, she'd wear the dress she wore at Skate Canada - classic, elegant, flattering, feminine - the epitome of an ice princess.

Although I don't agree with some of her costume designs, I love that she's not afraid to try different looks...does anyone know if she's keeping the same costume for Malaguena?

I could live with the big V-shaped front, but the see-through fabric they put there reminds me of the "style" in (usually) men's costumes I <em>really</em> don't like. Plushenko is guilty of having quite a few costumes like that, I've seen at least one on Abt, I can't remember who else.

With the exception of the neckline, I like the dress. It'll look great flowing as she skates. She's too flatchested to carry such a deep neckline.

It is much better than Tonya's version which just looked trashy. Has nothing to do with my personal opinion of her. I remember thinking the same thing when I saw her where it at 94 Nationals before the news broke of her alleged involvement. I believe a fan made her a better outfit for Oly's.

Re Tonya's '94 LP costume: The USFSA objected to the neckline and told Tonya to either it in or change the entire costume. I don't know who made the maroon dress she wore at the Olympics, but I remember a writer for the NY Times calling it Tonya's "Miss Pity outfit." It certainly was conservative and certainly covered everything to the fullest--except the scandal. Not enough fabric in the world to cover that.

This dress would be beautiful IMO if it were just solid purple.

About Tonya, I remember that a group of women who said they felt bad for her that she didn't have costumes to compete with Nancy's made her a costume for the Olympics. It was white with long sleeves and they told her to wear white tights and boots for a longer leg line. Tonya was concerned that the long sleeves would be a problem because of her upper body being so developed. Come Olympics no sign of the dress that I remember. What a lovely gesture on the part of those ladies.

I guess I'm gonna be the sour grape here......:x

The dress is nice, but I was doing a little sleuthing on Rach's concerto #2 (everyone and their mother seems to be skating to it anyway) and it was written while he was going through a depression period, which the music obviously expresses. Sasha's dress unfortunately doesn't express that. The blue, well that is a color of depression, but the purple and gold, nope. Maybe if it was black with some gold for a little pop, then that would be fine.

Does it matter whether the dress reflects the music or not?

I think most of her dresses go fine with the music, especially the ones she had for this LP.

Btw IMO blue is a color of communication, healing, wisdom, freedom, confidence, independence, integrity and truth. I don't think she would look good in black (she had a black dress once, it was broken with white, but still, not her best choice), she's too tiny, and her complexion wouldn't go well with it.

As for the colors that go (or not) with the music, the thing that bothered me this season the most was the choice of the color white for the music like Carmen (or was it Carmen?). I don't remember who it was (in pairs or ice dancing). Whaaat?

I'm with Fetal and Kara Bear on this one.

Nice dress. Interesting color combination.

But just as makeup is used to accentuate the natural shape of the face, Vs in the neckline of dresses or blouses are meant to accentuate the. . . bosom.

Baby-Girl Sasha ain't got no bosom. . . AT ALL.

Therefore, she ain't got NO business wearing NOTHING with a V-neckline.

And to top it all off, she further draws attention to her flatness by highlighting the neckline with one of the most bold colors there is: GOLD.

It does look like Tonya's, but hey as long as she likes it...
What I'd like to know is Where she gets all the money for these costumes. Getting a new one every other compotition has to be expensive, and its not like TT's a cheap coach, either. I know she designs them herself, but fabric and a seamstress and a new set of make-up for each dress IMO would really become pricey.

Nice dress overall, although the gold is a little too much IMO.

AFAIK she designs her costumes with help of Natella Abdullaeva (the person who designs Yags' costumes). As for where she gets the money, I heard her family's well off, so I think they can pay for them.

Is it me or does the dress make her look like a cheerleader or a majorette? I guess Sasha and cheerleaders have more in common than the russian split.
