Just a Dumb Question About American Idol....

Just wondered, do the contestants who "get the boot" so to speak (voted off) know they are going the night of the deciding show.? They seem to have prepared parting videos or do they each make one just in case? Just wondered, because they seem to hide it well before the announcement is made and act somewhat surprised at the outcome.

I think their departing videos are made in advance so they have them ready -- it's the same with The Bachelor --

I don't think they are told in advance. Judd Harris was not only surprised but angered by the way he got the boot this year & I tho't Constantine was surprised when he was eliminated. (Well, so was I!)
