I hope that this link copies OK:

The ISU has an invitational in Japan for Oct 1, but no invitationals set in the US. Could this be changed later?

The link dosn't work.
Attyfan, the url that you posted is not complete. Can you go to the site, then copy the entire url from your browser toolbar?
The only calendar I could find on the ISU site is this one
http://www.isu.org/vsite/vcontent/pa...m-item,00.html
It only has the Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix events listed, and not the Japanese invitational.

The document I found was Communication No. 1320; it is on the ISU's home page (not on the first page of the Figure skating page). Hopefully, this link will get you to the page announcing the communication, with a link to the calendar:

Thanks, Attyfan. Very interesting. This document says that it is the calendar for international events, so maybe that means that Campbell's has already been designated as a U.S. national invitational, instead of international.
Last year the spring Marshall's was originally listed on the international calendar, but then was later demoted to a "national" event.

There was a post on the usfsa website after I posted this. Nothing gets on the ISU calendar until dates, times, and sites are set, and the dates, times, and places of teh American cheesefests are still "TBD".
All these rules.... not unlike getting the summer olys in nyc. (hopefully they don't come to nyc.)
