According to RIA "News" reporting in "Sports Russia", a committee has been recently held for the Union of proffessional athletes, coaches, and other workers of physical education and sport. It decided to create a Russian Union of Russian athletes, adopted the rules, and elected the leaders. Until the next meeting, the leaders will be Irina Rodnina (chairman), Nikolai Gulyaev, Vladimir Salnikov, Igor Shalimov, Gleb Muzrukov, Alexander Elenskij, Igor Sherbakov, Sergej Makarov, and Maria Kiseleva. The participants underlined that up until now Russian athletes did not have an official body to protect the proffessional rights.
