It's official - Brian has announced his split with coach Vernonique Guyon and that he already has a new coach to train with. If you recall, she was his life-long coach until they split a couple of years ago and he went with Laurent. Brian and Vero got back together in January, and now they are going separate ways.
Brian has arranged for a Russian coach to come and train with him in Potiers - contrary to rumors it will not be Yagudin, Tarasova, or Morozov and he will probably make an announcement by early next week.
I had the chance to visit with Brian last week in Paris and am very happy to report that he is quite lean, in great shape, eager for the new season, and that this coaching split has been anticipated for some time. Many will say that this puts him in a bad position going into the Olympic season, but better to get stabilized with a new coach now - early in the summer - than later.
