If you haven't all ready heard......London just barely beat Paris for the XXX Olympiad a.k.a the 2012 Summer Olympics.

London becomes the only city ever to host the Olympics 3 times (1902, 1948, 2012)

I was shocked when Paris lost

I was relieved when NY didn't get the games. The traffic is tough enough in the metro area. I remember the Atlanta games- a cousin down there said almost all the natives who could left and rented out their homes for exorbitant prices.

I'm not disappointed that NYC lost the bid for 2012. Most of the people in the area would probably go out of their way to be on vacation during that time period just to avoid all the security blockades, etc. A lot of people did the same thing when the political convention was in town. It would have been a commuter's nightmare.
