Authors like to give their skating books catchy, clever titles, sometimes containing the word ice or edge, or referring to something cold.

Here are the ones which I know have already been used:

  • On Thin Ice (so it's a work of fiction; so what? :) )
  • Frozen Assets
  • Inside Edge
  • Edge of Glory
  • Cracked Ice
  • Ice Cream
  • On Edge

(There are also titles like The Second Mark and The Long Program, which refer to aspects of figure skating organization, and are therefore not quite as punchy.)

So what's left? What catchy, clever book titles have not been used?

I can think of:

  • Over the Edge
  • The Edge of Reason
  • Blade Runner
  • The Gay Blade (I'm so sorry, but I could not resist)
  • Have an Ice Day
  • Ice, Ice Baby
  • Ice Cubed
  • Ice Age
  • God's Frozen People
  • Frozen Treats
  • Cold Shoulder
  • The Cold War

and, last but not least, simply because I had to throw in an old Johnny Carson reference

  • The Edge of Wetness

I'm sure there are more. Aren't there?

 I'll join in as soon as i think of one.

BTW, I thought the title "The Long Program" (i.e., life) was totally cool.

Great titles!

I liked Elizabeth's Manley's book, "Thumbs Up!"

"Zambonied! - Or, How I Was Robbed of the Gold Medal at Lake Placid", by L. Fratianne with a forward by F. Carroll

"Goody-Two Skates - Or, Isn't It Boring to be Well Behaved?" by T. Harding

"spICE Girls - A Humorous Retrospective of of Women's Figure Skating over the Past Fifty Years".

I like some of the titles that have been used for biographies:
Spice on Ice
A Pair in Which There were Three
To Catch a Dream
Forcing the Edge
All That Glitters
Dreams of Gold
IceBreaker
Cracked Ice
Both Ice, and Tears, and Love
Landing It
Wings on my Feet
On Thin Ice
Triumph on Ice
As I Am
Black Ice
Fireworks on Ice
Symphony on Ice
Beauty & The Beast
Facing the Music

Of course, there are many fiction books alluding to figure skating in their titles.

Coming up with new titles is not easy! But I suppose you could make reference to singles, pairs, dancers, etc., turns, spirals, jumps, leaps, beads and feathers (hey there's one!), edges, blades, slicing, arenas, hot and cold, and music reference (Carmen comes again!)..........

Spirit, I like "The Edge of Wetness".

Anissina&Peizerat's autobiography is titled "Of Gold anf Fire". Toller Cranston had some interesting book titles. I think the one I have is called Ice Cream, with a sub-title that I can't remember. Isn't one of his other book titles about Hell freezing over?

The Nancy Kerrigan Story

"What's A Nasty Joint Like This Doing In A Nice Girl Like You?"

I also like Josee Chouinard's,"All That Glitters"

Peggy Fleming's autobiography is named The Long Program.

Hang Time: Flying High over the Ice. Can Micheal Jordan Leap this High?

And then there was Scott Hamilton's autobiography, "Landing It".

How about, "Rink Around The Rosies." :o

Speaking of Josee Chouinard, I've always been somewhat puzzled by THIS picture. It's just begging to be captioned, but I'm not sure what to write.

I always thought Death Sprial would be a good name for a biography of a depressed pairs skater....
Horrible, I know.
