Men's LP...play-by-play coverage/comments

I'm new to watching on the web and not sitting through NBC's canned coverage ;)

Anybody know what time -- approximately -- the last group will start? Like 90 minutes from now?

Here comes a 'top gun' from Euros, only 19th here, so far:
Frederic DAMBIER
Romeo & Juliet Prokof. version

ahh...he tried quad sal, didn't work

combo 3 flip-3 toe well done! (worked hard onthem)

3 axel....not even close

"What to salvage?" Simon says.

2nd try at 3 axel - problem, again.

Doubling out of lutz.

3 loop pop-out. "Still has minute & half & his legs are weak..."

Over. "But didn't he sell it well? Audience likes him. Costume sums it up: a performance from the heart." "Last performance as eligible, most likely. Said he probably won't go to Worlds."

Into 3rd, so far:

LI Chengjiang CHN 21 60.23 1 121.98 1 182.21
1 VERNER Tomas CZE 22 59.71 2 120.36 2 180.07
6 DAMBIER Frederic FRA 19 61.17 3 116.42 3 177.59

Eurosport says Pluschenko (firs t of last gp) skates at 22:15, local time. That's 4:15 pm, eastern US time.

Doggygirl - I succeeded in getting CCTV-5 too & turned it off because of delay AND frequently-frozen screen. The Eurosport audio is crisp, clear & easier to 'translate' for readers. Thanks for the tip, though. [I'll rely on the video sites to see the vids sharply later.]

Frau, you might want to just turn the sound off on CCTV-5 and let it run for awhile. For me anyway, I usually have to let it run for at least 10 minutes before the choppy video settles down and gets nice and smooth. Not sure if it will be that way for you though....

Yay, I'll get to see the last group live!

Dambier sucked. Awful. I feel bad. His coach is so strict on him.

Good luck to Klimkin, I wish I could watch ya!

I might be able to help with some of the later skaters depending on what CBC decides to show, apparently the hockey game conflicts with it. Anyways, the coverage they show is usually live so I'll say whatever I can.

And Dambier sued to participate in the Olys! The results on the ice were not as good as the ones in the court room. The French Fed should send Contesti or Preaubert to Worlds instead!

Awww...I've been called to a meeting. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch last group. Sorry, guys! (sniffle)

Many thanks Frau - your help with these live reports is so appreciated!

Good luck with the meeting, and when you return, I hope your favorites place right where you want them to be.

Back for a bit...and Kevin Van der Perrer seems to be on FIRE!!!!! Hit quad & tons of triples. Audience going crazy!!!!!

Seems like Klimkin & Davydov did well...1 & 2, respectively...but I hear that people are now going BONKERS for Kevin, with instant standing-o. NBC sure better show him, that's all I have to say!!!!

"Perfect on the most important night of his life!!" says Chris.

Standings/scores (as soon as Kevin's is up):

Anton Kovalevsky of Ukraine now...Chris & Simon remind us that his mark-down to 16th place was the 'scandal judging' of the men's SP. "Were the judges asleep?"

Spartacus

3 flip-3toe gorgeous technique

3 axel??? no....

3 lutz-2 toe

3 loop???....a fall of some sort (big gasps)

very quick:

Eurosport announcers (Polish) had no idea why Klimkin was ranked so low after SP (I don't either). He did much better, but fell on cantilever(!) He promises to do better at worlds.

Van Perrin totally rocked the house. Two-footed the quad and his double-loop (at the end of a 3/3) was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen and lots of balance checks but his best ever LP so far. Good for him.

Kovalevski fell _twice_ in footwork. nice quick rotations in his jumps and good basic quality, I think he might go places with world class coaching.

How dare those teachers not keep them til after the men's event!:p

  I hear you Sk8nMama - my 14 year old son has his first playoff hockey game at 5pm today - I told my husband (manager of the team) to try to postpone until later on after the men were done - he gave me a very disgusted look.
