I don't get it.
R.D. is mixing metaphors. The saying is, "Let the chips fall where they may." The reference is to woodchopping. I am going to do what I have to do regardless of the consequences.
What R.D. meant to say
was, "if all the pieces fall into place." Like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that miraculously all come together to reveal the picture or to produce the desired outcome.

Well, chances are, whoever wins, I'm not gonna like it.

Um, actually I did. What I was saying was that I'd like to see her on the podium rather than doing a quad. I was aware of her decision and pleased with it. What's the problem?
