Pairs Free Skate, Sat. 11/19 at 9:30 am EST

Huge score for B/L, 125.85. She is very happy. Much better than there previous outing. Enjoyed the performance.

Duhamel/Radford (CAN)

3FTw
3F+2T+2T - both complete combo, but has hand down/stepout/fall at the end, he UR's the last 2T
3S - good
BoDs
FCCoSp - nice unison - they run into each other on the exit move, though
ChSp
Li
3LoTh - bad fall, ankle looked twisted
Li
3FTh
Li
PCoSp

That will definitely not beat B&L, and frankly, it should not beat E&L in the LP at least. Their pair spin position was very interesting, though!

Lots of problems for D/R, but they have great unison (they even had exactly same touchdowns on a SBS jump, lol) and their last lift is fabulous. But I hate that squatting spin with her leg next to her ear.

I wonder if TV makes her look stockier than she is. Anyway his lankiness definitely accentuates it as well. I'm not sure I will ever like their look together.

I simply cannot get over this CAN pair's odd look on the ice in order to enjoy the performance.

Seriously, he's tall & slender, then she's short with this grown up woman look from the hips on up, but from the waist on down it's like the somatype of a dwarf. Reminiscent in a way of Irina Rodnina and her pairs' partners. Flea & gorilla, but more odd with this pair b/c of the photoshopped look of a grown up woman from the waist up and then

Volosozhar/Trankov

1FTw - she did not get into the air at all, what is happening to their twist?!
3S - nice
3T+2T - also nice
BoDs
FCCoSp - nice unison
3LoTh - nice height
Li
Li
3STh - 2footed
Li - a bit shaky exit
ChSp
PCoSp

Not their best, but it will probably be enough for gold

Much much better then their SP (which I personally despise), and I like the edgy version of this Black Swan. Very very good. Still, this pair reminds me of all those other pairs (whose names I've since forgotten) that were also-rans when the truly great RUS pairs were competing. Jmho.

I will never warm up to D/R. Except of the matching between them, there is also something very annoying about her.

And this is one where I really want to see the protocols.

I did not expect V/T to beat B/L with that botched 3Tw (for which she seemed to blame herself - really?). I guess they're just generally a superior team with a better program, but I thought B/L were better today.

And I can't believe D/R are medalling. I would rather have seen D/W or the French couple on the podium. Sorry, but that was a terrible FS.

ETA: I like those French elves holding the awards. They're dressed warm but chic.

Biggest surprize was Amanda and Mark landing in 4th place and should have been in the last group. Cheers for Evora and Ladwiq

V/T got pozitive GOE on their throw 3S which was 2footed(an obvious mistake for me but apparently not for the judges). Come on! Vera and Yuri were better today. 130 points for that program is outrageous

Much prefer V/T long to the short, it was not perfect but still enough to win. The Canadians should not be on the podium, not sure how they got 115, the Americans are very hard done by. Is there a trend towards score inflation this year? Lots of very high marks for average performances.

Looking forward to the GPF, who will win from the two Russians and the Germans? My favourites this year are K/S

The Canadians came out ahead because they have an incredibly high base value. Also, Amanda did not help by URing the jumps, and he lifted her during hte pair spin which made the element not count. Not saying I agree (I prefer D/R, but here E/L should have been first). I also thought B/L had the skate of the night and should have won the long program.
