2012-2013 Programs by Discipline

I should have posted this a week ago, but forgot. Apparently, Tatsuki Machida's SP is C2C - F·U·Y·A. It's choreographed by Stephane Lambiel. Should be interesting, I think. Machida described the moves as something "unusual" both for him and Lambiel.

translated from russian forum:

SP:

Bazarova/Larionov : Dreams of Love
Kavaguti/Smirnov: Cats w/ "Jazz Cuts "

What is dreams of love? Can it be a translation of Liebestraum by Lizst?

Oops. It seems someone already answered that question. Never mind.

Can we refrain from using the word "gross" for any skater? Even if it's because of the music, it is not the best word one could use.

From Ice Star Minsk

SD Valse Violente performed by Caravan Palace; Dolly Song by Holly Dolly
FD Mahalageasca by Goran Bregovic; Ausencia by Goran Bregovic; Mahalageasca by Goran Bregovic

The Holly Dolly song is actualy the Japanese anime version of Ieva's polka (Finnish)

Here's the Mahalageasca by Goran Bregovic played by a band of Cats

Fair enough. I actually like K/S a great deal (I think Claire de Lune is a figure skating masterpiece of the highest order) and should've been more respectful. But I won't deny my first response to this news was to recoil from the screen.

Re B and L's sp I'm not surprised. And it's definitely going to be the most delicate dainty sp of them all. After all they even managed to make Tosca delicate (except for the fall at worlds and the fact that they can't land jumps).

K/S are portraying cats not skating to "Cats" I heard it was a cute program but I don't know the exact song.

Slight notice: Graeme Gordon (CAN) has changed his short program. He is no longer using the Saw Soundtrack. I'm not sure what his new music is, but it is a mambo/samba of some sort I believe.

Thanks, Snoopy

I've changed the listing to read "Latin medley"

Do you happen to know what Graeme's LP is?

Is it wrong to hope that it's a train wreck, just because the music choices suggest it will be?! EPIC!

As to that, judge for yourself :) The whistling bird effect in Take Me out to the Ballgame is another epic touch.

And from the GS article on Madelyn Dunley, the reigning Canadian novice champion, who is moving to Seniors this year:

SP Amélie soundtrack
LP The Devil’s Dance,

Polina Shelepen's new LP

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXSUUJaZyAg&feature=plcp

The beginning is from Gone with the Wind. I don't know the rest of the music.

I feel like, unfortunately, Shelepin is getting worse as she gets older. Her jumps are less consistent but more striking to me is the fact that her posture seems much worse and a lot of her lines are just awkward. I don't see her interpretation getting much better either. This makes me sad.

I want to see Shelepen skate to something that suits her for once, these programs make her look so wooden.
