I think we need to re-check the time. I used the on -line time converter, and 14:55 Istanbul time translates to 4:55 AM PDT which would be 7:55 Am EDT , wouldn't it ? ..still not bad for you east coasters, but if this is right , I won't be up that early to watch in real time.

I have a weird mental block with keeping straight who's ahead and who's behind in distant time zones ( as well as deciphering the arrows on elevator door controls ) ...so I just go to the time converter as a matter of course.

I wish I had a dollar for every time someone was running for the elevator, yelling " Hold the door!" and I inadvertently slammed it in their face..( How to endear yourself to your co-workers)..

I enjoyed Stepanova/Bukin's SD, it looked good to my eyes
but do they always have a lower TES ? they must have gotten a low level on some step seq or did not get credit on something.
good PCS score the judges must have liked it too

I also liked Mcnamara/Carpenter here though still needs a lot to work on skating skills and the spins,twizzles dont look that good.

I liked Stepanova/Bukin too. I suspect lower levels though. Alexandra looks gorgeous, really liked the dress. I also liked the german couple a lot and the young american couple was cute(really liked their speed ant attack)

I really liked a lot of these programs, in fact all of the first 5, plus Prochazkova & Ceska and all of the blues part of Baklanova & Bagin (I wish they had done an all blues program-the swing part at the end was very jarring and added nothing.)

Stepanova & Bukin had problems with the blues, missing 3 of 6 key points. Ivan missed both closed choctaws, and they missed the start of the second blues pattern they did. Also, they only got level 2 on their "Goose" style lift; it looked to me like she didn't hold the position at the top long enough. Like everyone else, they only got level 3 or less on the step. I thought they looked undertrained in the Russian test skate video of the SD, and though they look better than that, it was, for them, a rather sloppy effort in my opinion.

Koch & Nuechtern hit all 6 key points, and level 4 for everything except the level 3 steps.

Hawayek & Baker missed 3 key points, level 3 on the step. Super impressive for a team that has not been together a year yet. Plus this is their first ISU outing.

Edwards & Pang got all 6 key points, but only level 2 on the step.

McNamara & Carpenter got all 6 key points, but only level 2 on the steps. They are doing great for youngsters, and their score was a lot better than their previous SD score. Loads of personality on the ice.

Sforza & Fioretti got 4 key points and a level 3 step

Baklanova & Bagin got 3 key points and a level 2 step

Baklanova & Bagin got 4 key points, with a level2 on the step.

Prochazkova & Ceska got 4 key points, but only level 1 on the step. They chose a circular not-touching step, which I think is generally a mistake, since it is harder for no extra points.

yeah, I think Stepanova needs to hold the position long enough on their goose lift with her one leg up
it looked like she was rushing it and was a little hesitant so she wouldn't fell off.

Stepanova-Bukin looked a lot better than at the Russian Trials! They have to work on the Blues and on that lift (it's really horrible!), but artistically they are absolutely the best we've seen in this JGP so far. Koch-Nuechtern's technical preciseness deserved the high TES they received, I really like when they are so young and have such deep edges! Edwards-Pang and the Americans are close, it will be an interesting FD!

I don't think S/B need to work on that lift , I think they should lose it altogether. Even if they get it to the point where she doesn't have to climb up so cautiously , it's not going to be pretty with that free leg position, IMO..because she necessarily has to have her weight so forward over him to balance, I doubt she'll be able to achieve a really nice open side extension... The same would be true for anyone ... I think it's a problem with the mechanics of the lift , not the skater.

Individually, these are two fine skaters ...who just don't come together as a couple for me. They affected me this way last year, and though I'd really hoped for a change this year , I don't see it. Therefore, their PCS is a bit OTT, for me.
