2012 Cup of China Ladies Long Program

Srprised Mirai got such a low score but downgrades and I tink a little lack of performance (not many highs and lows in the choreography, I think?) dinged her.

I like Mao's Swan Lake, especially the choreography sequence at the end :)

Lipnitskaia now: first time I see her live (on tv).

Julia LIPNITSKAIA (RUS)

Music: Nutcracker by Peter I. Tchaikovski (Lots of Tchaikovski tonight)

White lace dress w/long sleeves and gloves

3Lz+3T - eeked out, rotation looked OK
2A+3T - hand down/stepout
2A
3Lo
FCSp - didn't get enough rotations on the last variation
3Lz+2T
3F
3S
StSq
ChSq
CCoSp
LSp

Some small mistakes, she is human afterall. Will it be enough for gold?

How Julia held onto that first combo I will never know. Really a lot of her jumps looked a bit off/tilted to me, she definitely fought for this program. Will be interesting how she is scored compared to Mao. I really do not know what will happen.

She looked really nervous today, but the program is :confused2: she looks really disappointed...

I disagree with the commentators. Lipnitskaia is just moving around the rink putting her leg to her face. I hope she actually cares about exuding some kind of energy, because her interpretation is actually flat and blah. I don't want to watch rhythmic gymnastics on ice. She has technical style and brilliance, but has a void of musical artistry apart from the choreography that was given to her.

I really like Julia A LOT but honestly I do think all the winning has slightly gone to her head. I don't mean I think she is conceited but I do think she slightly lacks an appreciation for the depth of the ladies senior field/the fact that she isn't in Juniors any more. I understand why she is disappointed (and she's only 14) but really there is no shame in losing to Mao Asada!

I think Mao's win was justified :) Julia is extremely promising and will be a threat in the final, I think. But she seemed quite tentative today! She *is* fourteen and in her JGP, she shouldn't be too hard on herself!

Lipnitskaya really needs to work on her jumps when she's nervous like that--almost every jump landed had zero flow out and was bent over at the waist. She lost a lot of speed near the end of the program as well, particularly on the step sequence.

I'm glad that placed behind Asada.

She does need to work some on her jumps but I do want to point out out that her jumps actually were way off tonight compared to how they generally are. They are usually much better.

Great win for Mao!!

Julia was incredible to me! Good she got 2 place. Now she knows she isn't invincible - she has things to work on. She could have easily won if she did what she CAN do. And that's a good sign that even with errors she can still make the 2 place finish

Yes, Julia was really off tonight (but here's just morning!), she almost fell in the 2A+3T, which is usually a strong combo for her, she didn't make any mistake in it during the past season... Mao's win was the correct result: the quality of her program was far ahed Julia's, the difference in the PCS should have been higher, I think deserved her score, Mao's should have been 66-67! I'm sad Mirai didn't get a medal, Kiira's program was good, but not THAT good, I think she was a bit overscored...

and she will work more on her transitions to increase more her PCS, Julia still has chance to get to the GPF

Omg@ Mirai's technical score being lower than Ying Zhang's

If that's how Julia skates when she is "off"... Watch out, World! She really does have a spirit of a champion

I usually don't like Julia's style, but I thought she would be the 1st since she attempted difficult jumps. She was underscored compared to Mao, I think.

Lovely skate from Mao, but I enjoyed her performance at Japan Open more. The music suits her very well. Much better than her SP. Generous score considering no 3-3, 3Lz, and 2ft landing on combination.
