Am I the only one with a tv set that has the voices of Peter, Susie and Terry louder than the music playing for the skaters. I found the music too low in COC and COR and probably the SA, SC and B. I want to hear the music over the voices of the coimmentators.

Music is the esential element in figure skating. Otherwise we could just watch school figures.

Ita!!!!

And I wish they would stop blabbering during the programs about stuff that's not relevant to the actual skate. I don't mind a little soft commentary that doesn't drown out the music, and is specific to what's happening on the ice. It was SO cool to see Johnny's SP (from the Bombard coverage IIRC??) with NO talking whatsoever during his skate.

Blabbering

My husband and I blabber the whole time, anyway. And stop, reverse, watch again in slo mo... and I provide highlights based on stuff that I learned at GS (like when G&G ice dancers were in Kiss N Cry, I pointed to the guy in the middle and said "That's the one Shae-Lynn is engaged to!).

So the blabbering of commentators doesn't really disrupt us.

But the music broadcast could have been a tad louder. When we adjusted the volume to hear the music, the commentator's blabbering was louder than our own!

Blabbering

I think they just assume that people will be too bored just watching the skating. I can justify blabbering about something skating-related, but sometimes it seems to be in a different universe. As in Cup of Russia, during Grushina & Goncharov's performance, they mentioned that the team is from Ukraines, and just went on talking (at extremely superficial level, I may add) about the election turmoil that is currently engulfing that country. What does that have to do with anything?!!! Just imagine, say, a German commentator during a Grand Prix event in 2000 -- "And here is Michael Weiss on the ice. He is from the US. It's a really big country that won independence from Great Britain a little over two centuries ago. Now, of course, United States is in the midst of a highly contested election. I wonder how this effects Weiss, with everything going on in his country..."

The music was too low, and the commercials waaaay to loud (don't know if that was caused by ESPN or Direct TV). I've had to adjust the volume up and down constantly.

My intent on this thread was MUSIC and it being too low on TV. There were moments in the skaters' routines I would have like to see if they were in sync with the music. It was hard to tell.

The blabbering is another subject we took up on many other occasions. I agree it was really out of hand during COR.

But I think those two things go hand-in hand: the commentary was amplified, while the music was barely recognizable. If they had just shut up, I could have raised the volume, but I'd have violated every law in my apartment building if I had turned it up loud enough to hear the music, because then the commentators would have been "screaming" non-stop.

I agree but I still believe there was a technical problem with the amplitude of the music for the transmission by TV. this is something ESPN should look into. The blabbering kept lower would help but they won't do anything about that. I'm really thinking about 4Continents, Euros and Worlds which will all be on ESPN and blabbering or not I do want to hear the music otherwised I'll just watch Nascar

Aaaaaaacccckkkk!!!!!

I actually wish only that Terry Gannon would shut up. I love Susie Wynn's voice -- it's really musical.
