Well here's a video of Victoria and Nikita and to be honest they are looking pretty good so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pfubf_viChw It looks like he did the swan lift with her except in the opposite direction but overall they are looking in sync.

This is an Ilinykh/Zhiganshin thread, I don't understand why you posted this here. I think it's better suited for the Sinitsina/Katsalapov thread.

Honestly they look okay. They have the same style, soft and romantic and I imagine a similar emotional range. Ruslan and Elena are more passionate emotional skaters and to me they seemed the more balanced partners in terms of technique and artistry. Apparently as a pair however Russian experts feel they don't have enough "pretty points", so the kids have to bring it.

S/K have their own look, at that time (May 31 st) they looked less than ideal, however I am sure they have made progress. However this video would be more appropriate within the Sinitsina/Katsalapov thread.

I think somebody mixed the threads(deliberately?)
But I'm not sure anyone is interested in this kind of war:slink:

That lift was not a swan lift.  It is common lift in ice dance with layback/leaning out position for lady; one leg, spread eagle or sit position (If they want level4) for man. It was just like saying split position for lady in rotational lifts (very very common) actually none other than Davis/White waltz rotational lift (unique) Those lifts are special because of that small details.

You can see some examples with layback/leaning out positions:

Can't wait for the SD especially!
Carmen and any Spanish/Latina role is practically made for Elena and I think they'll interpret this amazingly.

Yes I agree about the SD.

The FD seems to be an interesting mix, if it's the piano version of Anthony and Cleopatra it's not overdrama as 'many' thought

This sounds kinda....jazzy? and yeah, "easy listening"... how strange. It doesn't really fit with Appassionata, does it? I wonder how they're incorporating it?

 These two pieces do not match. Hopefully its a mistake and they plan to use the Alex North version...Does the fed purposefully want to bury these two?

Why do you think that, because of the music? It's not the FED who chose the music for them, and we haven't even heard the final material yet.
I think, for example, that Vivaldi's version of W&P was horrible and boring. I don't think that will prevent them from winning, or be serious contender though. Not that I'm comparing the two couples.

Well, I like the music, I think they know how to match the two pieces, and probably use it as a bridge at some parts, and it can give a dancey feeling to the program and show these two can dance (yes Ruslan can dance too:laugh:)

I'm not a fan of mixing different music in general. I think Appassionata by Secret Garden alone was a good choice. Althought it is a bit too slow.
Still, I can't make a judgement without hearing the final version first.

I think I'll keep an open mind as well until I see them. Getting excited though.
