There's a youtube video of Anastasia Martiusheva & Alexei Rogonov's FD (it freezes a few times and the load time was stop and go). But it's a testament to their potential that you are still able to see their musicality, beautiful choreography, and inate skating ability through it all.

They made me sit up and notice more than any pair program I've seen in awhile Junior or Senior. Their spins were crisply synched. They have tremendous body line. Their step sequence towards the end was a joy to watch- they sailed right through it instead of the painful stop and go nature when pair skaters try and do side by side step sequences these days. The only thing is their jumping (side by side and throws) are not quite solid enough yet.

But wow!! And it's one of the most beautifully choreographed pairs programs I've seen under COP with some evocative and appropriate moves that fit into the Nutcracker theme. Really lovely and that's something I haven't felt about pairs in a good long while. Everything is usually so strained as you watch pairs lurch from one element to the next. I hope they continue to develop and get supported by their skating association. It would be a shame to see them disappear into the ether of Russian pairs that never quite made it out.

I hope I haven't completely jinxed them.

I was just coming here to post that video. They're absolutely lovely and I adored their program. I'm thoroughly impressed.

I watched the entire pairs free skate. It's a well skated event. All three Russian pairs were great. I also enjoyed a couple of pairs from France, Italy and EST etc. I'm not all that impressed by the Canadian and American pairs though. I'm glad the Japanese pair medaled but they didn't skate really well.

I found lots of programs were more interesting than those done by the Sr. pairs.

By the way, I'm amazed by how fast these videos are up on youtube. Please continue to post the video links you can find! Too bad I don't know how to capture the videos.

I am really impressed by Anastasia Martiusheva and Alexei Rogonov they were simply great, every single element they did was just enjoy to watch  . but some what concerned by the age gap, he is 20 and she is 13:frown2:.

interestingly 3rd russian pair did a side by side 3 Lo and 3S+2A sequence. they are definitely Singles skater.

Thanks for the other links oleada.:agree:

[rant] I think Oksana Domnina said it best when she said that Ice Dancing is turning into Pairs. With these programs especially, the two disciplines now have three elements that look exactly the same. A supported lift, combination spin, and side by side step sequence with multiple changes in direction.

Other than the jumps I'm starting to see no difference- though Ice Dancers still have a bit more space to express artistry. But everyone just looks wiped out at the end of their routines- they don't look like they're enjoying it anymore- and that's across all disciplines.[/rant]

Very much it would be desirable to look this video. Probably to load it once again?
