Glad you guys discussed it, because I will also have to add the bag to the list of things I need. Phone only entry also worries me. The Covid tests are still the worst though so far. I haven’t yet got plane tickets because I am so overwhelmed by all the stuff.
Me too. I am going to get the app working next week, see what they give me for squiggley codes and take screen shots and print them out. Then make sure I have a copy of my email reciept for the seats.
This is way different that just getting a boarding pass for an airplane. Pracitice tickets, event tickets, gala ticket...what can possibly go wrong?
Going in and out., too
I have seen pleanty of FUBARS in my day. (Fowled up beyond all recognition)

Got a secret message from USFS intergalactic HQ. There will be a meeting Soon about when and if they can do a safe FOFS meet and greet breakfast.
Personally, I am not eating with others in closed areas. There is one outside area at the complex. I just had two other very close long term friends who got the J and J get covid a month later and are quarrentined at home. I go not wish to get sick and I dont want to pass it along. I await my booster. I am glad Ashley Cain Gribble says she is making real progress to getting back to normal. I would rather dodge the bullet if I can for now. Please dont feel insulted if I refuse to eat with you.

The Atlanta soccer team has been using mobile tickets only for a couple of years. And we’re talking 30 to 40,000 people at some games. It’s never been a problem. Having looked at the seating charts for skate America this should not be a problem.

If my technically challenged other half can do this 99 percent of the world can

Thanks for reminding me! Weather turning. Will check it out. The problems at figure skating gates are much more complex than boarding passes or a foot ball entry. If this person in for practice? A comp? All comps? Gala? In and out? Warm up before comp? Do the locals know how to program the scanner? Some paper ticket packages have caused confusion where supervisors had to be called. Once at a practice in the World Arena practice rink in Colorado Springs 2007 a very young Rachael Flatt sitting away from me glared at me and here came the security. I showed them my fistfull of tickets for everything at the comp and they shrugged and walked away. LOL! At least Alissa Czisny always had a big smile for me.

Here is a question I do wonder about. I carry a verizon phone and an ATT phone. Many places in the west like Winnemuca NV have one and not the other....do you have to have cell service to use the app? Wifi? Or can you pre load?

Las Vegas is a big city these days, it's been seeing rapid growth as of late. That sort of issue happens with small towns, not big cities. Surely it would have both kinds of cell service... (I use a phone from T-Mobile, which I believe is connected to the Verizon network and worked in Vegas the last time I was there)

What you really have to be concerned about is whether your phones are iPhones or whether they run on Android (basically every other type of phone). If they're Android phones, you can download the Google Pay app on your phone. After the app is installed and set up, go to your COMPUTER, go to the Orleans ticket website, log in, and there should be a button by your tickets on the ticket page to transfer them to Google pay. Double-check the app, it should have an events section, and if you click on that, your tickets will be there!

I don't have an iPhone, but the corresponding app appears to be Apple Wallet.

If worse comes to worse, you can call the Orleans ticket office to ask for assistance. The guy who works there is very helpful (he informed me that you needed to transfer the tickets on the computer, not the phone).

Hope this helps.

By the way, I use android. My two Motorola G7 phones are free and I pay $100 a year for talk, text and data for each. The downside is they ONLY each work on their own system, one verizon and one ATT. I will try the Google Pay trick. As a past police communications specialist and mobile phone guru, it amazes me that even at today's higher freq bands, Building penetration does work very well....
I am probably just paranoid as at my house in the middle of nowhere my cell phone signal is down in the mud. :laugh2:

OK, first major foul up. My tickets dont show up on the ticketmaster app. My reciept says I MUST download tickets to Google pay PRIOR to arriving at arena.
Next stop is trying to find someone who cares at ticketmaster.

YOU are a genius! I went to my emailed receipt on my desk top, hit manage, and there were my tickets!!!!!
I hand typed the URL into my phone and there were my 6 tickets. I brought them up, took screen shots of the QRs, and transfered the tickets into Google Pay. Thank you for your help (also made a short cut to my phone's home page for the tickets.) (Cant find them on my Google pay...will try later...

OK, no joy with google pay receiving the QR codes but I have Jpgs of them and my phone now has a link to the six QR codes on AM. ticketmaster.com...NOT ticketmaster.com. I will take receipt and the charge sheet for my credit card.
BTW, Ticketmaster says you can NOT add their tickets to your Google Pay Wallet at this time. So that is why mine are not showing up.

Thanks!!!! Big help. Here is what the official website says....screen shots wont get you in.

Hmm.... I got into a football game just last week using screen shots. The truth is if the reader can see the QR code you are generally good to go.

IMHO they just say these things to keep you from making screen shots and selling them someplace Because what happens then is the "first" person to use the screen shot gets in and all others discover "we got bogus tickets'. If you are buying tickets from someone NEVER accept a screen shot. In our case te original tickets were on the phone of my friend's daughter who was also at the game, she could have come to rescue us if we couldn't get it.

My technology challenged partner has never put his tickets in his wallet. He just opens up the browser before we get in line and shows the ticket. IT's a pain but it works LOL

Thanks for the input. No reply from Boyd about their false statement that you can put tickets into an android phone using Google Pay. I cant even FIND a wallet on my google Pay app! :palmf:
In a perfect world, I would have bought my tickets on ticketmaster, which I did, and they would appear in my ticketmaster account, which they did not, and they would appear on my ticketmaster app, which they did not, and I would follow instructions to put them into my Android google pay app, which is not allowed by Ticketmaster according to the link I posted. I am wondering now about that $25 I saved by not getting paper tickets.....
One thing 30 years in law enforcement has taught me is to not be meek. If I show up with the $307 showing up in my credit card account, an emailed receipt, and Printed QR codes and they dont let me in, I will call for a supervisor, show them my badge, and then tell him/her I am calling the police and pressing fraud charges. I dont beat up on worker bees at the gates.....supervisors are fair game. Open the box office and give me the paper tickets! (y)

(It IS interesting that the receipt says, "Thou shalt put the tickets into your "Wallet" before arrival. "
Maybe I preload the QR code on my phone before entering the arena for an event before getting into the gate when I have cell phone coverage.)

In a world where USFS wanted fans to attend you would be able to search Skate American in October in Las Vegas on TIcketmaster and find tickets... Try that and see what happens. I get no events Near Las Vegas. So then I tried the Orleans Arena. Nope.

You have to figure out that you have to go to the hotel website and buy them there. Yeah that's intuitive!

Feel the love???? I dont mind the hotel being the promoter.....but if you are using ticketmaster, then USE ticketmaster. NOT AM.Ticketmaster. No reply to my pleas to TM to unscramble the mess....I will call Boyd and see what they say.
Quote from receipt.
  • Download your tickets to Google Pay or Apple Wallet prior to arrival at the Orleans Arena. If possible download to each individual device for everyone that is entering. (this is obviously impossible since ticketmaster has refused to download tickets to Google pay on android phones)

Going to attack the problem from a different angle. Emailing Google Pay customer support.
Viewing Ticketmaster tickets on Android Google Pay app. I am trying to transfer tickets from ticketmaster app to Android Google pay. The Ticketmaster app says they have been transfered. I can not find them on my Google Pay app. Now Ticketmaster says this. "Adding tickets to a digital wallet is not available for Android users at this time." https://help.ticketmaster.com/s/article/How-to-add-tickets-to-a-digital-wallet?language=en_US So if Ticketmaster says the tickets were transfered, where did they go? How can I put them on my Google pay app if Ticketmaster wont let them go?

Such a statement cannot be false, since I was able to do so successfully. I went to the Orleans Arena ticket website (the same place where I bought my tickets, while using my computer) and was able to transfer my tickets to Google Pay from there.

It is true that there is no "wallet" there, but when you open the home screen on Google Pay, there should be a section labeled "Businesses." Click on the Ticketmaster icon if it's there, and if your tickets have been transferred successfully, they should be there. The home screen I am referring to can be accessed by clicking the house icon on the bottom of the screen when you open the app.

I also made sure to add a credit card to my Google Pay before transferring the tickets, I wonder if that's necessary for the transfer to work. I think it was the same one I used to pay for my tickets, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for your help. I successfully added my credit card to google pay. I went to Businesses and it says "businesses you've recently paid will show up here." There is nothing. I turned off and then on "AUTO SYNCH" . Nothing. Perhaps they will re-appear later. My Am.Ticketmaster.com account says the tickets were transfered to Google Pay. This weekend I will try my other phone.
FYI there are two separate G pay apps. I have both installed and neither work or at least dont show the tickets. You may have a point in that my old card was compromised and I have a new card and the tickets were bought with the old card. I forgot the old card number but maybe I can find it on my bank card statement and re-add it. The problem with that is that GPay wants to confirm the card with the company and since it is defunct, they can not do that. A last resort may be to call the Orleans and have THEM CHANGE MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER ON FILE. Note that I made my own "app" to my tickets for the Orleans.

Hi all! I’m super excited to attend Skate America. I’ve never been to a live figure skating event (other than Disney on Ice lol), so I’m curious what to expect. Are there any specific rules of etiquette I should be aware of (beyond normal good manners and Covid precautions)?

Most excitedly and importantly, do you know if we will be able to throw stuffed animals on the ice?

I’ve also seen people chat about trading pins at other competitions. Is that only for major events like Worlds or will that be a thing here? What kind of pins are they talking about? Like homemade or do you buy them somewhere? Could a random fan like me join in?

Thanks in advance for any tips for a newbie!
