Vinah, what CDMM means when she says that the event is "Yu-na Kim's to lose" is that Kim is so much better than the other skaters that she will definitely win unless she makes some mistakes which lets the other girls catch up to her.

This phrase is a compliment to Yu-Na. It says that Yu-Na is in a class by herself. :)

Yeah I can't see her losing this one unless hell freezes over...

She's a very talented young lady and it's great for Korea, which doesn't really have, or HAS had, any world class skaters.

She's been Mao's biggest competition. But check out Zukowski.

Christine is an awesome skater. She'll be a force to reckon with as a senior in St. Louis. She has been the best American lady skater on the JGP circuit this year -- but the Japanese as is the trend are, as a team, the best. Part time model, Mai Asada's done well this year but I'd favor Sawada for second. Binshu Xu of China looks like she's ten but had a marvelous SP at Jr Worlds only to fizzle a bit in the LP. She's very capable of doing well here.
If Kitamura is healthy (which she was not at JR Worlds) can also make the podium.
But Yu-Na, like Mao, should have been a contender for the podium in Turino had skating skills been the determinate rather than age. As pointed out above, if Kim's healthy, this will only be a competition for 2nd and 3rd.
Time for Katy to step up-- she is coming off a 1st place finish in MidWest Sectionals so confindence should be high.

Hope all have the great skates they are capable of.

Even with a fall, Kim wins the LP by 15 points.

Overall:

1 Yu-Na KIM KOR 174.12 1 1
2 Aki SAWADA JPN 145.78 2 2
3 Binshu XU CHN 142.83 3 3
4 Katy TAYLOR USA 139.26 4 4
5 Mai ASADA JPN 129.99 7 5
6 Christine ZUKOWSKI USA 126.47 6 7
7 Elene GEDEVANISHVILI GEO 124.54 8 6
8 Akiko KITAMURA JPN 111.86 5 8

Not much change between the short and long.

Kim's 174.12 would have given her second place in the (senior) Cup of Russia, beating Ando's 172.30.

She didn't fall....

Hi, MM
She didn't fall. She was little off from the music. Her skating finished just several second behind the music...which is I noticed since last season.
I'm not sure her coach noticed it or not. I think he should tell her about it.
However her performance is perfect. She deserve those high marks.
Here's a part of ISU official competition report from ISU site.

Yu-Na Kim increased her lead with a world class free program (116.61 points, six points more than her personal best) to win with a difference of more than 28 points and the maximum of 11 jumps. None of her twelve elements got any minus points from any of the ten judges. The 15-year-old Korean, silver medalist at Junior Worlds 2005, began with an excellent combination of triple flip and triple toeloop, followed by another one of triple lutz, double toeloop and double loop. After a triple loop her third combination consisted of a double axel and a triple toeloop. She added a high and sovereign second triple lutz and a double axel without any preparation. With elegance she interpreted the romantic violin music of the soundtrack of "Papa, can you hear me?". Her program components reached an average of 6.8. She commented: "Today I did a perfect program and my personal best ever. In the summer I worked in Colorado Springs with Tom Dickson and Katarina Lindgren on my presentation. Next week I will start working again on the triple axel which I had tried in summer. But it was too risky for injuries." Kim is three months too young to compete at the Olympic Games and ISU World Figure Skating Championships in 2006, but says she is not sad about that.
