I saw the specialist today about my stomach problems and yes, I do have to have the camera procedure done. I am not looking forward to it! My appointment is for Sept. 14th, I have to take the day off work. The Dr. mentioned the big "C" word!!! Could everyone here say a prayer for me!!!! Thanks.

My prayers too. Laddie, you don't need to have such an apprehension. It really isn't that bad. And it doesn't take a really long time either. Even colonoscopies aren't as bad as they used to be. Of course, the day before the colonoscopy
is the bad part.
I don't think you have to do all that stuff with this scoping. Here, they have a tv monitor and you can watch it too. I preferred to sleep. I kind of wanted to watch but with all that medication, I just coulldn't. The spray they spray your throat with is really bad tasting but doesn't really last long. You know you won't be able to drive home. You will need a ride but I assume your hubby will do all that. They might even let him be in there with you. You will have to fast. I sure hope what everyone has told you has helped.
Hugs, Grgranny

Many positive thoughts and prayers going your way. I hope it is not as bad as it could be. That would be a very scary word to hear. It is beatable, so I hope you will deify all odds what ever the out come and be the 1 in a hundred that baffle the DR.s in how well you do and recover from what ever might be the issue. good luck and I hope all comes out OK.

Grgranny, they didn't offer a video tape, that would be a good one to share

They didn't offer a tape. The monitor was next to the stretcher and it is what the Dr. was reading and they have it placed so you can see it too. That happened with the colonoscopy too.

They gave my brother some pictures of before and after of his plugged up arteries and he shows them to any that want to see them.
If there are ulcers they have very good medication for that now. (I was allergic to the main one) So, there is hope of a fairly short time before you will be feeling better. I hope all this information is helpful.

L.A.D, hang in there girl. I have been tested for 4 different cancers and they all came up negative. I think it disappoints the doctors.

You'll do fine. Try to think of the funnest things that ever happened in skating. I know there is a "blooper" video around here somewhere, lol. :) Here's one

Hey Lad are you having regular endoscopy or the "capsule endscopy" where you swallow the little tiny camera that is in a capsule?

I don't know. I think it is the regular endoscopy.

Lad, Good luck with all that stuff. I've had uterine cancer 6 years ago, and I'm still around. My neighbor across the street has had ovarian cancer for at least 8 years. Thank goodness you're in Canada where with luck you can get whatever chemo you need without fighting with an HMO.

Colonoscopies are not pleasant, but the part that's bad is just as GrGranny said-the prep the day before. Absolutely be sure that both for the endoscopy and the colonoscopy that you have someone to drive you home. Particularly with the endoscopy, I thought I was just fine, but some stuff I said to my husband revealed that I was doped to the eyeballs and not thinking straight.

Hugs & Prayers, Doris P

Thanks! I got quite a chuckle - although I know how the skaters feel - ouch!!!! The pairs are the scariest. Thanks for your thoughts!
