I wonder what happened to Sokolova too. I thought she'd be at least among the top three. Lets see if Emily can hold it together for the long.

Just watched Nakano and Hughes's SPs...Hughes was alright, slow spins...but absolutely NO footwork or connecting steps into her 3Lz...She didn't do a required element, so...is there a penalty? Her 3F-2T combo was alright. How does the NJS handle this?

Nakano was very very good. Still has that leg wrap, but her spins look fantastic. She is so solid. I think the reason she's in second place behind Hughes is that she might have underrotated her 3lz in the combination. Looks like it was downgraded probably.

This is something I've always wondered. Do any of the skaters do footwork into the single jump? How far should the footwork go to the jump? It seems to me that just about everyone telegraphs the jumps. Emily was probably the best of a mediocre group. How was Sokolova? Why was she scored so low?

I've always liked Emily hughes' style and I really love that see attacks her short programs with fire. She is awesome, I really hope that she doesn't loss her nerves in the long program and that she wins the whole damn thing!

Well, Hughes has a really good short program this year that shows her strengths. I don't think her Long program showcases her style as well. Did anyone watch BeBe? What happen?

This is such a weak field. None of the medalists here deserve to be at the Grand Prix Final. The weak Cup of Russia field, also. Will get someone in who doesn't deserve it.

Hopefully, Hughes can hold on or I'm sure Nakano will steal the win. Sebestyan will melt in the long.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sokolova came back and won how anybody in this field could score a decent 100 to a low 80 score.

Remember how Czisny got in last year. It's the same thing. Maybe it's not fair but there you have it.

In team sports, if you have two conferences and one is significantly weaker than the other, it doesn't change who gets to play in the championship game/series. It's the best of the CONFERENCES, not the best of the teams.

There should be a compulsory -3GOE, because the skater didn't do a required element. But unfortunately the judges just ignore the rules! If nobody punish this it means that DE FACTO it isn't a required element anymore! It is required just formally.

Just saw Emily's SP, she skated beautifully, could be faster. I like the SP in general but don't like the touching-ice moves. I would think it's time to change the ponytail to a more mature-looking hair do. Congratulations!

Sure. Mr. Cinquanta has a special circular file reserved just for such complaints.

But seriously, I don't think anything can be done after the competition is over. There is a provision for protesting a rule violation to the event referee, but I am not sure what the time frame is. (I remember the Korean gymnast in the summer Olympics who was not allowed to protest an incorrect level assigned to his routine, because his federation did not file their petition within the time limit.)

Rules of Figure Skating are not analogous to rules of Gymnastics and the Olys would be totally different from the GP.
