I would not have picked Takahashi to win this, but win he did. The Japanese fans must have been thrilled with a sweep of the podium, just like in ladies.

What a great competition!

To say the truth, I expected Takahashi to win ever since I saw the practices. Oda didn't look good. He seemed so weak I was afraid he was going to fall apart in the LP. Takahashi, on the other hand, looked great and, for once, confident. He said in an interview that he finally got his jumps consistent.

I'm very impressed that both of them were able to skate to their potential. Kudos for Oda for closing the gap on Takahashi in the LP - the base value of his elements is more than five points lower, but thanks to his GoEs his TES were only 1.18 points lower than Takahashi. And what a feat to skate the program so cleanly that it did not receive a single -GoE in spite of him being ill!

Daisuke finally proves that when he's clean, he's dazzling. I hope that he'll be able to keep this consistency. Lack of competetive nerves is his weakest point.

I'm happy for Kozuka. I predicted him to medal on the senior stage sometime soon, and kudos to him for proving me right. :)

I can't wait to see the programs.

Thanks, Oscilla. Can't wait to see the vids. I'm excited for both of them - heck, all three of them (even though I never heard of Kozuka until today!) - but especially Takahashi because people have been writing him off. (Why are fans always so eager to do that?)

Goldenskate - how can we get some members in Japan?!

ETA: Look at Patrick Chan ahead of Van den Perren (sorry - didn't read the thread re capitalization etc. carefully).

I have seen the video clips from Takahashi, Oda and Kozuka, they were really awesome! I was very happy especially for Takahashi that he has found his confidence. What a wonderful skater he is as he is on!!!

WOW, how fortunate for the Japanese Federation that they had three male skaters of such high quality in this competition.

Kozuka is 2005jr world & final champion like korean girl who's gonna take
part in this year'GPF.

He's got really good skating skill. I think It is better to forcus on his skating tec.

What a showing for the two. Looks like they're showing that they could be both on the Worlds podium.

Was anyone thinking Kozuka? Good for him.

Joe
On FSU there were live reports from TEB that described his soft knees and fluid way of moving in terms that made me think if he got his jumps together, which he obviously could do as a reigning World Jr. champion, he'd be the second coming of Oda, and I'm glad he gave a good performance at home and medalled.
