All just IMO, of course, feel free to add your own:

MELISSA BULANHAGUI -- What a charming girl!! She sure DID look like she was having the time of her life despite a bit of a disaster, performance-wise. I'm sure a lot of us wish we could learn how to do that!! (and not necessarily just in a skating context, but in a "real world" context)

MICHELLE BOULOS -- Really good edge quality. NOTABLY good edge quality, actually, given how little truly good edging one sees these days (tho it's gotten better overall since the late 80s/early 90s, which was truly an all-time low in this department. Still, it isn't what it USED to be....). Who's her spiky-haired coach?

DANIELLE KAHLE -- Nice performance, but the choreography -- and music -- could have used a little more variety and spark; the tempo and pace of both were just a little relentless. Good job, tho.

JULIANA CANARAZZO -- What a STUNNING young lady!! Rather has a Silvia Fontana thing going on. (I mean, looks-wise; no wrapped leg here, fortunately). Beyond that, I really enjoyed this program, too -- wonderful flow and good expressions; very enjoyable. Out of all the "new faces" seen this evening, Juliana is definitely the one I am most looking forward to seeing more of.

ALISSA CZISNY -- Well, she was just spellbinding. Sometimes the greater a performance is, the less I can really find to say about it.

RACHAEL FLATT -Sorry. I don't get it. I just didn't see anything that set her apart from any other really talented young lady her age or even slightly older. And I just didn't see this "musicality" that people seem to be talking about at all. Regarding that clip of her at 3 skating to "Broadway Baby" -- Man. That was a LOT of DRESS for such a little girl!!

KATY TAYLOR -- I'll bet part of her might be wishing she had just tanked in the short and been done with it; she probably thought she was turning her year around with that short program, only to go out today and....   I will give her this, tho -- despite the errors, this was the first time I have EVER seen her actually give some indication that she had MUSIC on; this was actually a good program for her, artistically. To me, in the past, she just kind of meandered around out there aimlessly, but there was a definite "point of view" (as Uncle Dick says) going on in in this program and good for her!

KIMMIE MEISSNER -- Meh. I did like the actual program, and I thought the footwork was terrific, but WAY too much telegraphing. Has she always done this and I just never noticed, or has she started working with Elena Liashenko??

EMILY HUGHES -- She's improved a lot artistically in the last year, too. I'd like to see her hold on to this program for another season, because I think she could really do some great stuff with it; even at this point IMO she's only about halfway there. Good show, tho.
[Sidebar: Based on the Torino Bus Incident, can you imagine what would happen if Johnny Weir had left HIS dress back at the hotel????  ]

(Sorry, I couldn't resist...... )

BEBE LIANG -- Getting past the jump and speed problems, this is a program that IMO should have been much more interesting than it was and it had less to do with Bebe than it did with the actual choreography. I know Sarah Kawahara's work gets praised to the skies and she's supposed to be so great, yada yada yada, but I have yet to see one thing she's ever choreographed (except for a short program she did for Bebe a couple years ago) that ever impressed me all that much.

Lastly, that "Little Girls Have Big Dreams, Too" has GOT to go. Bebe is no longer a little girl (At least not as far as her age is concerned.) That whole thing is condescending, it is sexist, and usually hideously written and just must STOP.

Except for Alissa, the ladies were disappointing. I felt very bad for Bebe. She has improved and I love her energetic skating style. But her SP was infinitely better than her LP. Thought Kimmie was really lucky to win. I was underwhelmed by her performance. I was almost wishing for Emily to win. All I can say is that I really miss Michelle and Sasha.

I agree about Cannarozzo. :agree:

But I really liked Danielle Kahle's program, too. She kept my attention throughout. She should get some Grand Prix assignments next year off her 6th place finish.

 Taylor Firth!

I'm really pleased for Alissa. I honestly thought she would either bomb or shine, and I'm really glad she chose to shine! Kimmie Meissner was held up in this competition IMO. Her triple-triples need to be downgraded; an international technical specialist will not be so lenient. I hope Pam Gregory realizes that the triple toe cheats are a problem.

Racheal Flatt: I concur with JonnyCoop. She's a nice young skater, but there are some obvious weaknesses, most noticeably that she is very slow. I was bored watching her long.

Danielle Kahle: Liked her a lot. Saw a lot of potential there.

Alissa Czisy: Obviously deserved the LP win and I really enjoyed her skate. Her spins make everyone else look like they are in slow motion. Her spirals are far and away the best there. She could use more speed.

Kimmie Meissner: I would have placed her second in the LP. I thought her program was by far the most sophisticated and difficult. Her footwork was spectacular and head and shoulders above the other ladies. Her spins weren't thrilling, but perfectly adequate. Much better than Hughes' spins. Her superior speed over the ice was noticeable. Struggled with, but fought for her jumps and didn't back down.

Emily Hughes: My overall impression of her program was that it was a bunch of jump entrances. Good speed and attack, nice flexibility in her spins, but the positions her choreographer has chosen for her don't seem to emphasize her best qualities, and most of them looked slow and slightly painful. Her spiral positions need work. It's not that she lacks flexibility, so I'm not sure what the difficultly here is.

I agree w/the Rachel Flatt comments. Nothing personal against her, but I predict in a year or two, she will have completed puberty and won't be able to land the jumps. She just doesn't get much height on the jumps and her flying camel technique and double axel remind me of Tara Lipinski. Also, the big swinging picking foot reminds me of Andrea Gardiner's jumping.

Highlight of the event for me was definitely Alisa Czisny! Hurray for her comeback!

I'm so happy that Alyssa went out there and really kicked butt. As for Rachel Flatt, I love this skater and am looking forward to hearing more about her in the future. TO me she is the most memorable skater for this year's Nats. Such expression, and she shows developing artistic ability unlike a certain other skater who was extremely held up during both phases of this competition.

Bebe is a strong girl, and I believe that her day will come. I thought this was an awful program for her that didn't showcase her strengths as well as her previous LPs or even her SP. I wanted to divert my eyes during the footwork section. I kinda wanted Emily to have that perfect performance. She looked on today and really sank into the program unlike past competitions this season.

Kimmie has some major work to do before Worlds; I agree, the international judges will not be so kind.

I thought it was a pretty enjoyable event overall. The skaters delivered and made this event worth watching. It's no longer about Kwan and Cohen.

I don't know whether to think Hughes should have won this event (it was close between her and Kimmie, and I thought Kimmie was given a gift in the short). However, that fall in the FS really cost her. Seems like Alyssa could have won this event if she didn't single that jump in the SP. I don't think we've had a national championship THIS close in years.

However, that said, of the three medalists Kimmie is likely to place highest at worlds. Whether that will put her on the podium has yet to be seen, but she has a lot of work to do. But remember, she had a similar performance at the Turin Games and then pulled that miracle out of nowhere in Calgary, so who knows.

If the international judges won't be as kind to Kimmie for the same performance, then they'll be even less kind to Emily, who even at her best is all raw power and not much else.

I am impressed with the American Ladies!

Kimmie's artistry is very much improved! She was a fighter in there! She will fight for her world title! I can feel it!

Emily was phenomenal! There is some awkward movements reminscent of Sarah that i see, but overall she is very graceful, powerful! I love her inside outside edge spiral into biellman position in her spiral sequence! She is very creative and amazing!

Alissa!!!! Alissa!!! THe new american sweetheart! She was phenomenal! In terms of overall performance and skill, i think she is the best american really!
Amazing musicality and artistry, better jumps, the best spins in the world! WOW! Good for her! Hope she builds from this experience and really have the gut that makes CHAMPIONS! She has it I Believe! Whohoooooooooo!

Mirai Nagasu! THis is the other IT girl! Senior ladies better take note! Cause she is better than almost all the seniors

Caroline Zhang! WOW WOW WOW! Her "oyster spin" is phenomenal! Her jumps can improve but overall an exquisite artist!

BEBE! I love you !comeback! Congrats for the PEWTER MEDAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rachel will only get better and better!

Here's my 2 cents

1. Kimmie - Not her best skates. She was under a lot of pressure. But she proved to be a good competitor again. She was not great but very good in both her short & long. I don't think she expectedto be challenged by any of the US girls especially after the season they had. So, good for her for holding it together, but she has a lot of work to do before worlds.

2. Hughes - In my opinion nothing she does comes close to Kimmie or Alissa. I don't know how she got that high score. She needs to keep working to improve everything. The one good quality she has is her determination to do well. So I like that quality in her. But she needs to rework that LP. I don't like it as well as her short. It is not as interesting.

3.Alissa - I have to admit that I got a little teary eyed watching Alissa. Who would have thought she would win the LP. It was so nice to see her fighting for those jumps and not giving up. I honestly believe third place is the best place for her right now. She can go to worlds without the stress of being National Champion. Can you imagine the pressure she would be feeling. I think she is going to keep improving from now on. Some people have to go through a lot to get what they want.

4. BeBe - Well she got the Pewter. Good for her. There were still 2 falls, but she never gave up, plus didn't she fall 3 times last year. Doesn't she get the four continents assignment. She needs to keep working that flip. I love watching her & Ken.

5.Flatt - I love her. She reminds me of the Little Miss Sunshine girl. She is a star in the making. I think maybe she should have stayed in juniors another year. It did not seem the judges knew what to do with her. But she has all the star potential. The top 3 better look out, she will be on that podium next year.

6. Kahle - Love this girl. She has lots of potential. She reminds me of Alissa. She needs to compete more. Yea, we get to see her in the GP next year.

Alissa is my absolute favorite, and I'm so glad she skated well! If only she hadn't missed that jump in the short....

I really liked Emily's LP. I particularly like her choice of costume, even if she does leave it at the hotel. ;)

Though I like Kimmie, I felt she was so-so at this comp.

Alas, the Rachael Flatt thing is lost on me... I think she goes a bit overboard with what Peggy Fleming calls "feeling the music". Her facial expression looks like she's in pain, mostly. A smile goes much further in my book-- especially if it's one like Alissa's! ;)

The only GP assignment she can get is Skate America. She had just one "B" International, Karl Schafer, and that may not get her on the Season's Best list that is the "blue book" for GP assignments.

Of course, the 4CC Ladies assignments haven't been made yet. The spots will be offered to Meissner, Hughes and Czisny first, and if one or more of them decline, then Liang and Kahle are next in line (Flatt is too young). Hughes and Meissner both declined last year and it is possible they will do the same this year, to concentrate on preparing for Worlds.

I can't remember, but when will 4CC's offers be given out (and us, the adoring public made aware of it LOL) Also, when are the envelopes out?

The 4 Continuents starts in 2 weeks so we will have to know soon. I doubt Kimmie and Emily will go, they have too much work to do IMO. But Alissa may go.
Those team envelopes don't usually come out until summer.

Alissa Ciszny truly is the one with the real talent - if she can get consistency with the jumps I think we'd see her total scores be far and away the best of the lot - I can see her winning by large margins easily if only she gets consistent. Kimmie Meisnner and Emily Hughes would be distant runners-up for sure.
