That's a big change. Where are you moving?

I'm moving from the central coast of California to the San Diego area.

Re: House sold!

Oh how lovely! I visited San Diego a few years ago on a trip to Disneyland and would love to live there! It reminded me much of Victoria (where I was living at the time). Great choice. I wish you the best.

Re: House sold!

Thanks Lad. I have a nice new house waiting for me and my family. We will be closer to family and friends and about 4 miles from the beach.

The only bad thing about this move is that my sons will have another 3 weeks of school left and I'm not sure what I am going to do. I have to either stay somewhere here or pull them out of school and try to finish the school year down south. I'm still trying to figure it out.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

Moving is always stressful, but I am sure your sons will adjust. I remember when we moved down to California and then back to Canada - I lost some time in school - but thanks to my patient teachers - I made it! It will work out.
All the best.

Re: House sold!

dlks8fan,

Just cuz the sale closes the 14th, doesn't mean you have to move then. Unless the new owners want to move in ASAP, you can probably work out a rental agreement with them so the kids can finish school.

Of course, if you CAN move into the new house, the kids can finish school with their new neighbors. A head start to the summer and next school year. Decisions, decisions, decisions....

Whatever you decide, good luck in your move.

Re: House sold!

JO-
I did have a rent back opition in our counter offer but the buyers chose not to use it and we didn't force it because we needed our house to close by a certain date. I think their buyers wanted to move in asap. The rent back isn't dead yet so maybe I will get lucky. As for having my kids finish school where I am moving isn't really a option. My sons' high school is on trimesters and the other school is on semesters which wouldn't work. Same for the middle school. I talked with his school today and they said I would have to have him finish here in order for him to get credit for his classes. His classes are too specific to take anywhere. If my kids were in elementary school it would be easier, but when you have a Jr in high school and he is taking college prep courses you just can't go anywhere to finish up the school year.

Hi dlks8fan,

You're right - you really can't move the kids before the school year ends. Hope whatever you end up doing for those last few weeks doesn't end up too expensive. After all, that college prep junior will need SAT's and college entrance fees and prom etc., etc. And that is just this next year!

Try not to pull out your hair. You'll want to look nice for those graduation pics next year.! (oops, forgot senior pictures and class ring....)

Glad my youngest is a junior in college, that is, when Uncle Sam is done with him and let's him return to OSU.
