She is my newest favorite violinist. I love her tone, and her vision of advocating lesser known composers, or lesser known works of famous composers. I respect her youthful bravery of saving the amati, but unfortunately she lost her legs in that incident.

NEW RACHEL BARTON CD
Rachel Barton has recorded a CD single of her original virtuoso piece, "Introduction, Theme and Variations on 'God Defend New Zealand,'" the New Zealand National Anthem. 2-15: RACHEL BARTON PERFORMS IN VIRGINIA
Rachel Barton will appear in recital with Matthew Hagle, piano, on Saturday, February 15, 2003, at 8pm, at Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. The program honoring Black History Month comprises Schubert Sonatina No. 1, Beethoven Sonata No. 9 "Kreutzer" (originally composed for black violinist George Bridgetower), and the following works by black composers: Jose White Concerto, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Romance, William Grant Still Here's One, and David Baker Deliver My Soul. In addition, Ms. Barton will give a master class at the W. E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts on February 15, from 11am-12:30pm.

2-21: RACHEL BARTON PERFORMS IN SWITZERLAND
Rachel Barton will appear as soloist in the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Bavarian Kammerphilharmonie and Maestro Philip Greenberg. The performance will take place on, Saturday, February 21, 2003, at 8pm, at the Theater Casino Zug in Switzerland. Ms. Barton will perform her own cadenzas.

RACHEL BARTON'S VIOLIN
Ms. Barton plays the Joseph Guarnerius del Gesu (Cremona 1744), known as the "ex-Lord Coke," on generous loan from the Fazenda Ipiranga, Guaranesia/MG, Brasil. The Fazenda is famous for its premium estate-coffee "Blue de Brasil" TM, produced without any agrotoxids and strictly biologically.
