JOHN ZIMMERMAN AND SILVIA FONTANA
TO WED AUGUST 28, 2003 IN ROME, ITALY

(New York, NY – Friday, August 22, 2003) – John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana, one of skating’s most beautiful and gifted couples, will wed in Rome, Italy August 28, 2003, it was announced today by Zimmermans’ agent David Baden of IMG.

Zimmerman (29), a 2002 World bronze medalist and three-time U.S. National Champion pair skater with partner Kyoko Ina, has not only become a skating heartthrob the world over, but has also begun enjoying significant success as a print model in New York City. Ms. Fontana (26), known for her exquisitely defined beauty and elegant grace on the ice, is an Italian National Champion. Both represented their countries in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games at Salt Lake City.

A total of one hundred and twenty-five friends and family are expected to attend the nuptials to be held at The Basilica saints Boniface and Alexis on the Aventine Hill, St. Alessio, next to Rome’s legendary Coliseum. Approximately thirty of the guests will travel from the United States, including good friend and U.S. National Champion Michael Weiss.

It is said that Ms. Fontana’s wedding gown has been “classically” designed and is reminiscent of the late Grace Kelly’s when she became Her Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco upon marrying Prince Rainier Grimaldi III of Monaco in 1956. Once wed at St. Alessio, Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman will be honored at a formal reception and sit-down dinner at a private Villa on the outskirts of Rome.

Later this year, the Zimmermans will perform in Brian Boitano’s Holiday Skating Spectacular to be taped live at the Mandalay Bay Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The annual event will be televised on the NBC Network January 1, 2004.

Mr. Zimmerman will then perform with partner Kyoko Ina in the 2004 U.S. tour of Smucker’s Stars on Ice.

To get married in Rome, Italy, oh I'm envious. I went to Italy this summer, and it is a truly beautiful country. The old churches are gorgeous and magnificent. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Great news. Sylvia rocks! She was my favorite among those that could never pull it together. She was absolutely striking on the ice and I felt she had such wonderful presence. I just wish she could have had one or two knockout skates!

She is a beautiful woman. I wonder what it would have taken to move her up into the upper echelon of figure skating.

Although I hate take-offs on opera and ballet, if forced to admit who got me into Carmen. I would have to say it was Sylvia. Fabulous rendition of the character. But as fate would have it, she did not skate without flaws. Her technical needed a better coach.

Awww...this is so sweet! I've got a question, though. Now that John's married, will he continue his partnership with Kyoko Ina?
