I think they did the pre-preliminary kids this afternoon.

Some of the notables skating later in the week are Best and Young, William Brewster  , Taylor Firth (plus her two younger sisters), Eliot Halverson, and Amy Nunn.

Missing in action are the usual suspects like Alissa Czisny, Faella and Scali and Davis and White.

Some other famous skating names I noticed on the roster: Katia Shpilband (juvenile), Christina Zaitsev (juvenile), Danielle Kwiatkowski (novice) and Zach Szabo (novice).

Here is the complete list of skaters who signed up, alphabetically from Connie Achtenberg (competing in three categories, juvenile ladies, intermediate solo dance and novice solo dance  ) to Jordan Swolski (pre-juvenile).

Does anyone know why the usual suspects Mathman mentions are not participating in Skate Detroit?

Missing in action are the usual suspects like Alissa Czisny, Faella and Scali and Davis and White.
Czisny just competed at Liberty last week. Have Faiella/Scali ever competed at Skate Detroit? Davis/White are in USFS' Team A envelope and so are not required to compete in a summer competition (if they were required, it would be at the Lake Placid Dance comp. next week which is the monitoring comp. for ice dancers), Indy Challenge, in 2 weeks, is the USFS' monitoring comp. for pairs, and so Castile/Okolski are likely to show up there.

I'm hoping to receive some "unofficial" results (Novice-Senior) for posting by later today.

ETA: This comp. seems to have fewer "big names" this year, but there usually are up-and-coming talents to watch at the lower levels each year. I recommend people drop by and enjoy the skating! :)

Unfortunately Angela Maxwell (scheduled to compete as a senior in Detroit and assigned to the JGP) has withdrawn from Skate Detroit due to injury :(. I've heard it's not serious and that she should be back on the ice soon.

I would love to see a youtube of Carman and Knierim

They are a sensational team, imo, and will be giving McLaughlin/Brubaker a challenge when they get to Seniors.
