Diane Szmiett is likely safe, but it is mathematically possible for four different ladies to come out of this competition with 24 or more points.

However, if it finished this way, Szmiett would not go.
1st Min Jung Kwak - 26 points, 15 breaks the tie
2nd Kanako Murakami, 24 points and a high enough score to break the tie.
3rd Angela Maxwell- 24 points,, but with a high enough score to break the tie
4th Fujisawa - 24 points 15 breaks the tie

However, these top 6 coming in are not the only ones with a chance to medal here. This is Tenile Victorsen's first JGP this year. Bernice Meite skated a lot better at the recent Masters de Patinage competition than she did at Courchevel. Ivana REITMAYEROVA finished second in the LP at Merano. She could put two good programs back to back for a medal.

The junior ladies have been so inconsistent this year that anything could happen.

Myself, I'd love to see Cheltzie Lee have a great skate.

2008 Merano Cup (Oct. 3-5) took place in the same rink as the Merano JGP a few weeks later, and Reitmayerova and Rio both competed in the Senior Ladies event there -- here are their Merano Cup (sr.) videos:

I think your top six scores would be hypothetical because only 1 can get 15.

Isn't there a Permutation or Combination that goes on like after 1, only a 13 can get a 2nd place; and only an 11 can get a 3rd place. 4th Place would get 9. If we add these scores to the ones they already have, would they make the Final?

Reitmayarova already has 13. If she gets:

1st - 28 pts.
2nd -26 pts
3rd - 24 pts
4th - 22 pts

(I think 24 is the magic number) So if she podiums, she will definitely be in the Finals unless tie breakers get in the way. And so it is with any skater who has 13 already, e.g. Maxwell.

Fujisawa could be ok by landing on podium only, and maybe 4th place, too.

Those with 11 points (Murakami and Kwak) must make 2nd place to be safe.
but 4th place may work.

So there are : Reitmayarova; Maxwell; Fujisawa; Murakami; Kwak. The latter two may not make it since only 8 can be in the Finals.

In conclusion, there will be a number of Ties to deal with but the important thing is to qualify for the Finals.

Reitmayerova has 5 points for her 6th place finish in Merano JGP in Spetember (where she was 2nd in the FS). She placed 2nd in the Merano Cup Senior Ladies' event earlier this month, which is NOT a JGP event.

Mae Berenice Meite's score at the French Masters was 123.94 (49.74, 74.20); she skated in the Senior competition and was second overall.

Her FS: 3L, 3Z< (fall), 3S+2T, 3T (fall), 3T+2T, 3S<, 2A+2T

I don 't think that's a better FS than her Courchevel one, where she scored 70.86 with no falls:

Courchevel: 2A, 3Z+2T, 3S+2T, 3T+2T, 3T, 3S<, 2A

Of course, the Masters marks were inflated, as national competitions tend to be.

chuckm, You're right about national comps often being inflated.

Joe (and Sylvia) the point about Reitmayerova is that if she is capable of finishing 2nd in the FS in a JGP event, she has the capability to medal, if she skates good back to back programs.

Yes, she have the chance to medal when she skates 2 good programms.
But she have no chance for the JGP Final this year.

Sandy is coached by Ingeborg Walther and Ingrid Lehmann.

Ingrid Lehmann is the former coach from Simone Koch, World Junior Championship 1983 and second 1984.

Her former coach Evelyn Gutzeit has retired and is no longer coaching.

Yes. I jumped the gun on that one. She has 5 points and even with a win, she would not get more than 20. I still think 24 is the magic number. Some very good skaters and close results at this JGP.
