My suggestion: ditch UR and edge calls by technical controllers. It's frustrating for you today, but have you thought about how many other skaters were doing exactly what Yu Na did on 3flip but was unfairly marked as lip in the past?

Ok, let's talk with video clips. Would you show me anything that other skaters did 3F in the same way as Yuna but their jump is called consistently as a lip?
Unless you show me the proof, I will have to think of you as who just blindly trashes her.

I thought it was called underrotated at Worlds.?

At first people said it was downgraded (in the PBP thread), but when I cheched the scores (http://www.isufs.org/results/wc2008/WC08_Ladies_SP_Scores.pdf) I noticed that it only received -GoE for the fall. It was sort of weird, considering it was very clearly underrotated (and it was underrotation that caused the fall), but as I said, I don't really mind the final result (though I would prefer Mao-YuNa-Yukari podium).

Yeah even I can see her jumps aren't as great. I'm hoping it's just they aren't working on them as hard so she'll be healthy by worlds.

Yeah, peaking later in the season would be smart. Fixing the 3F ASAP might be a wise idea, though - it might be too difficult later. I suspect that YuNa works on her 3F already - I think the reason she fell a few times in the practices was because she tried to do a correct take-off.

Fiercemao, I am waiting for your reply here.....
If you need time, please tell me. :)

I don't have time to do research on edge since I generally believe edge calls are extremely silly. Just one example, Miki got called on wrong edge last season. If she's a lipper, Yu Na is as well.

Oh dear, the Korean Yu-Na bots are foaming at the mouth even though she's first after the SP and will probably go on to win the competition outright. It's so hard to satisfy people sometimes.

Since she was finally marked as a lipper in this SP, I do have to wonder if she was always prone to lipping in the past and whether those people who claimed she did weren't quite so misinformed after all. Maybe the judges are finally wising up. I don't think she'd produce a lip out of nowhere tonight if she wasn't prone or apt to doing so in the first place.

I’m very unhappy with today’s COC judging that obviously held down Kim by punishing her with scandalous “e” and “<”. Or will they also punish Asada for her not only pre-rotated but under-rotated 3A, for her flutz, and for her foul use of toe picks entering into jumps?

Yu-Na said right after 2008 Worlds that she felt like she was just doomed to be a Worlds bronze medalist. And I think she's totally wrong. She's not doomed. It's fixed.

Or maybe the ISU thought "Oh, now it's 2300 youtube vids showing Kim lipping - I guess we have to call her on it now."

But the lip-calls are strange anyway. Anyone remember Weir and Lysacek? They didn't get edge-called for the entire 07/08 season - except for their last competitions. At Worlds Weir suddenly had two wrong flips and Lysacek got suddenly called on his Flip at the Japan Open. And yes, fans pointed out that Weir lipped before that - but he was never called on it.

The ISU needs to fix this mercurial edge-calling - pronto please.

Wow! And everyone though I was a Yu-na Kim fan who couldn't see reason. (not just you caleb)

I think the scores are fair Caleb. She's still in freakin first place, and there are things she needs to work on.

It's going to be a long road to Vancover.

Ok, now you don't have time?

Since you didn't give me the clip, I'll show you the clip that exactly compare Yuna's flip with Miki's lip.

As beautifully as Ashley skated today, I'm surprised that she didn't get an "<" call on her lutz considering it didn't seem to get all the way around. I just wish the "over the top" and "anti" Yuna fans would quit it with all of the bickering (I know I played a role in that last time and I apologize).

Fiercemao, you are over the line.
What is your bases of the constantly perverse arguing against Yuna. So you are the only one who saw the her lip long time ago, even hundred judges and billions audiences haven't seen any wrong with her jumps until this doubtable 'e'

She should get an UR call as well, absolutely! I think the entire UR/edge call is a scandalous scheme. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Uh huh. You might beg to differ, but I don't think ISU members are busy poring over YouTube videos posted by Mao bots (bots, remember, not fans) and giving a toss about what they purport to show.

We'll gain further insight when we see how the judges score Yu-Na in the LP.

protocol??

What happened on protocol?

If techical caller called legitimate 'e', all the judges should give YU NA -GOEs. Even though it's a compulsary rule, two of them gave 1 and 0. Didn't they believe what caller had said?

Yes, that 'e' was completely weird. The funny thing was that she got even +1 on her 3F-3T even the technical specialist marked 'e' on it.
