Currently in the hot seat is Eastern Sectional Championship silver medalist Brittney Rizo. Earlier this season, the Braintree, Mass., native finished fourth at Junior Grand Prix Italy and fifth at Junior Grand Prix Belarus.

In her senior debut at the 2009 U.S. Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, Rizo finished fourth in the short program behind the eventual gold, silver and bronze medalists. She placed seventh overall, making her the third alternate to the World Junior Championship team.

The highlights of her competitive career include winning the bronze medal in the junior ladies competition at the 2008 U.S. Championships. She followed that medal up with a gold at the AEGON Challenge Cup international event.

She started skating at age 4 when she went to a synchronized skating competition to watch her aunt skate for the Haydenettes. Rizo now trains at the Skating Club of Boston with coaches Peter Johansson and Mark Mitchell, who also choreographs her programs.

An science fair winner at Braintree High School, where she is also an honors student, Rizo plans to attend college in the future. Her current ambitions are to obtain a medical degree and become a doctor.
