Here is a new twist for reality tv - It's Hockey meets Figure Skating soon to air on the CBC in October. Top Canadian Figure Skaters - like Tessa Virtue will be partnered with a Hockey player - Lanny McDonald and yes, they will compete with other Hockey/Figure Skating pair teams. Kurt Browning and Ron MacLean (Hockey Night in Canada announcer) will host. What a hoot this should be. Canadians love Hockey and Figure Skating. This should be interesting...

Reality Show Hockey players and Skaters

A few days ago it was reported in my local paper that CBC [a Canadian TV station] will air a seven part reality type elmination show featuring male hockey players Lanny McDonald, Glenn Anderson, Tie Domi and Bob Probery and others. The female figure skaters are not yet announced.
It is slated to begin in October.

I wonder who will be the Canadian female figure stars? I am assuming Jenn and Liz?? I know in an Olympic year it's not gong to be Joannie!

Anyone have any more info?

Jamie Sale will be included. My guess also includes Isabelle Brasseur, maybe Josee Chouinard, and it would be great if Christine Hough (Tuffy) was there. I always loved her! Do you mean Jennifer Robinson? I don't think she will be involved because of her size...I think she is around 5'7.

I never thought of Jamie Sale Duh, LOL
I did mean Jennifer Robinson. Perhaps some of the hockey players are quite large. I would love to see Tuffy again. She married a hockey player I believe.

Just a tidbit on FS and Hockey.

In Sonia's last movie, she played a tired old vaudeville skater who skated during the Halves of the Hockey Game. Poor thing, she was on her way out, but she did show some better acting and better skating.

Yeah, she did marry a hockey player! I read in an interview that one of the players was getting prepared for the show by lifting his son who weighed 75 pounds to practice for the 100 pound girls. So I think the girls will be fairly small...who knows though! I am really excited for this show....I think it will be lots of fun! :thumbsup:

Battle of the Blades tv show coming to the CBC...

Sounds cool - a new figure/Hockey skating reality show is coming in October to the CBC network. Some of Canada's top figure skating ladies will teach eight pro hockey players to become pair skaters who will then compete. It should be fun to watch. The hosts will be Kurt Browning and Ron MacLean ( Hockey broadcaster on the CBC).
