I heard all the hype so I went to check the protocol. She fell on the only 3flip attempt in the LP and it was downgraded. The other jumps she tried were 3S, 3T and 2A.

She doesn't seem to have the jumps yet.

Hello everyone, I'm Kiri's rather biased sister, but just to clarify some of the questions.

She's been competing all season with lutz and loop, but took them out due to consistency. She has received credit for all of her triples save triple axel in competition this season. I expect at least one, if not both will be going back in the program as soon as she's home.

That's cool to hear. I do like her style, but was surprised to find the limited triples she tried here. Good luck to her.

Yay Courtney

As Kiri's coach's biased sister, thank you Courtney for clarifying Kiri's enormous talent. Too often people forget that these are CHILDREN and allow themselves to voice opinions based on conjecture and what they have "seen" reading protocols, or only reading other peoples blogs.
Kiri, like all of the skaters we judge in these forums, works very hard to achieve her potential and should be treated with respect. This is a marathon, not a sprint. How many great skaters have we all seen "peak" too soon. Kiri is in this for the long haul, and has many years ahead to polish the triples, lets just give her and all of these other skaters the space to do this. I know her coach is well aware of Kiri's skill and her age. That's why Kiri's programs are beautiful and showcase what she does so well.
Signed Lorie Charbonneau's sister.
PS Kate Charbonneau's proud aunt as well!

Russian young girls are good this season! I was surprised when I found that Sofia Biryukova's coach is Viktoria Volchkova. Remember her? ;)
As for Kiri, wow, she is fast! And I like her, but she needs her lutz and loop to compete with Murakami and Shelepen. Anyway, JGPF will be interesting!

Yes, Pushkash & Guerreiro had 4 penalty points and Cannuscio and Lorello, I think, snag the last spot in the JGPF!

Actually CHN has three spots this year!! Thanks to Yang and Song placements last year.. I guess is a safe bet Song and Han will be going with Liu being the likely third boy..:agree:

How old is he now?? Sounds like CHN has some promising skaters this year

I believe this kid is only 13 years old. He is COP 2.0 :love:. His skating skills are very impressive. Compared to the older generation(Lambiel, Plushy, Brian etc), there's very little stroking in this kid's skating. Most of the time, he's doing one-foot skating. The impressive & difficult entrance & exit to each of his jumps seem so seamless and effortless.

Love his Sluskya's style entrance into 3loop and the beautiful exit as well. The spread-eagle into 3S is also very creative.

He looks very mature for a 13-yr-old. Not only in his skating style but also in his demeanor.

A Chinese man earning the top PCS (and gold) in an international competition, this must be a first. He looks extremely promising.

Let's just hope they don't screw it up. Weren't there loads of promising Chinese young men during the last years, all of them with excellent skating skills - but somehow you sometimes never hear from them again, or they make weird decisions concerning international assignments....
