Patrick Chan has announced that due to an injury to his calf, he will not be competing at his first scheduled Grand Prix event this season.

The above quote came from this article.

Has anyone heard more details?

The season hasn't even started and already so many have withdrawn for injuries. All disciplines have been affected.

Methinks some are trying too hard, maybe?

Yep it's true. Thankfully, not too serious - recovery in about 14 days. There is a thread about it in the Grand Prix section. :)

Well it's better to take care of these things early rather than late. The Olympics are just around the corner. Get well Patrick!!

hmmm. Just when he was looking so strong too. I hope that he (and the other skaters) are not trying to peak too early. Vancouver is really all that matters.

I am sure Patrick is training hard, but it seems that this year, more than any year is a marathon. Whoever is the healthiest (both mentally and physically) will come out on top. I believe Patrick can rise to the top with the support of the home fans in Vancouver.
