Reigning U.S. Championship silver medalists Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett, who compete later this week for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team, are proud to open their official Web site at www.figureskatersonline.com/denney-barrett/.

Denney and Barrett made an impressive debut on the Grand Prix circuit earlier this season, placing fourth at the NHK Trophy in Nagano, Japan, and then taking fifth at Skate Canada in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. The statements on the Grand Prix came just months after Denney and Barrett took the skating world by storm at the 2009 U.S. Championships in Cleveland.

When Denney and Barrett took the ice in Cleveland for the short program, most of the crowd had never heard of the pair, which had partnered in June after a brief stint in 2006. But no one in the building could forget Denney and Barrett after the Floridians handed in the best short program of the competition.

Two nights later, Denney and Barrett won the silver medal, booking a trip to the Four Continents Championships, where they finished sixth in the same venue that will host the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, and making the World Championship team. Denney and Barrett were the highest ranked American pair at Worlds, placing ninth.

With a solid 2009 behind them, the team is focused on earning a spot at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada. Denney and Barrett will compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team at the U.S. Championships, Jan. 14-24, in Spokane, Wash. The pairs short program is Jan. 15 with the free skate following on Jan. 16.

Denney and Barrett train in Ellenton, Fla., at the Southwest Florida Figure Skating Club with coaches Jim Peterson, Alison Smith and Lyndon Johnston. Their programs are choreographed by Peterson.

I think they're terrific. It will be interesting to see if they can deal with the pressure of being the champs next year. So far, they seem oblivious to pressure. It's tough to be the favourites, God knows M/B found that out. I hope both teams come back strong next year.
