Honestly, I don't see the point of the post, except the Yu-Na ubers wanting to raise their ego after worlds.

yes, there's nothing wrong with those stats, but there might be some Mao fans who do not like to see those compared marks and ur Yuna-loving emoticons, and also Yuna fans who don't want Yuna to be compared to Mao.

Anything wrong with these two talented athletes stats?
Nothing wrong with the stats if it stayed only by the stats. ;) The last paragraph is IMO too much to be posted outside Yu-Na forum, there is no need for another Yu-Na vs. Mao bashing.

I posted the following in the rivalry thread. It's more neutral and less Yuna-centric

Yuna
1 Olympic Gold (2010)
1 World Gold (2009)
3 GPF Gold (2006,2007,2009)
1 4CC Gold (2009)
7 GP Event Gold (1-2006, 2-2007, 2-2008, 2-2009)
1 Junior Worlds Gold (2006)
1 JGPF Gold (2006)
3 JGP Event Gold (1-2004, 2-2005)
1 World Silver (2010)
1 GPF Silver (2008)
1 Junior World Silver (2005)
1 JGPF Silver (2005)
1 JGP Event Silver (2004)
2 World Bronze (2007 and 2008)
1 GP Event Bronze (2006)

TOTAL: 26 medals (8 junior, 18 senior)

Mao
2 World Gold (2008 and 2010)
2 4CC Gold (2008 and 2010)
2 GPF Gold (2005 and 2008)
5 GP Event Gold (1-2005, 1-2006, 2-2007, 1-2008)
1 Junior World Gold (1-2005)
1 JGPF Gold (1-2004)
2 JGP Event Gold (2-2004)
1 Olympic Silver (2010)
1 World Silver (2007)
2 GPF Silver (2006 and 2007)
3 GP Event Silver (1-2005, 1-2008 1-2009)
1 Junior World Silver (2006)
1 4CC Bronze (2009)
1 GP Event Bronze (2006)

TOTAL = 25 medals (5 junior, 20 senior)

Interesting stats...

Mao's extra senior medals came from the fact she started on the senior GP a year earlier than Yuna.

So if you looked strictly between 2006-2007 and now, when they both were seniors the break downs is this:
Yuna: 18 senior international medals
Mao: 17 senior international medals

Who wins...
(Based on face-to-face competition)
Olympics? Yuna (1-0)
Worlds? Mao (3-1) [Mao beat Yuna in 2007 as far as placement]
GPF? Yuna (2-1) [Not counting 2009 since Mao was not there and not counting the 2005 since Yuna was not there. Yuna beat Mao in 2006 and 2007; Mao beat Yuna in 2008]
Trophee 2009? Yuna (1-0) [Only time in GP or JGP that they competed against each other)
4CC? Yuna (1-0) [However Mao wins in terms of medals 3-1, but two of those medals came when Yuna was not there]
Junior Worlds? Tie (1-1) [Mao 2005, Yuna 2006]
JGPF? Mao (1-0) [Yu-na won the following year, but Mao was on the SGPF by then]

Face to face?
Yuna 7, Mao 6
(Senior: Yuna 6 [06 and 07 GPF; 09 Worlds; 09 4CC; 09 TEB; 10 Olympics], Mao 4 [07, 08 and 10 Worlds and 08 GPF )

GP Stats
In 2006 GP Series, Mao and Yuna won gold for 2 of the 6 events
In 2007 GP Series, Mao and Yuna won gold for 4 of the 6 events
In 2008 GP Series, Mao and Yuna won gold for 3 of the 6 events
In the 2009 GP Series, Yuna won both golds and Mao won none.
In the GPF, Either Yuna or Mao have won since 2005 and won 8 out of 15 medals (53 percent) [Others on the Podium? Irina Slutskaya, 2005; Yukari Nankano, 2005; Sarah Meier, 2006; Carolina Kostner 2007 and 2008; Miki Ando 2009; Akiko Suzuki, 2009]
In the Worlds -- Mao and Yuna have 7 out of the 12 medals (58 percent!) [Others on the podium? Miki Ando, 2007 and 2009; Carolina Kostner, 2008; Joannie Rochette, 2009; Laura Lepisto, 2010]

** Mao currently has the Axel [8.2], Flip [5.5], Loop [5.0] and Toe Loop [4] while Yuna has the Lutz [6], Flip [5.5], Salchow, [4.5] and Toe Lop [4]. If you add it up Mao has 22.70 base points in her triples arsenal while Yuna has 20 base points. Where Yuna racks up the extra points is how she combines those jumps (3-3, 2A-3T. 2A-2T-2L). Mao currently has no 3-3, but does have a 3F-2T-2L.

***
Outside the stats...
** Yuna herself has said that she would not be where she is without her rivalry with Mao. The stats above clearly show this.
** Whether it takes mistakes for people to beat Yuna, the fact is that Yuna still opens the doors by making those mistakes. And guess what the only skater to take advantage of that? Mao. If you look at Yuna's programs that had falls, Mao was right there to skate clean.
** On the other hand, Mao is not as COP smart as Yuna, which has really hurt her in 2009-2010. I think Mao should have risked the flutz instead of taking it out of her program.
** I love stats!

I think that some of the posters here feel that there is nothing wrong with comparing stats of both skaters, but it's just that it seems too "Yuna-centric". I understand this is from the Yuna Forum, but the comments and emoticons that come along with the stats aren't necessarily "neutral".

These stats were already done in another thread. I see a lot of posts from people who seemed to have joined to discuss YUNA exclusively and her alledged superiority to all creatures. It's so old already.....

In short: Yuna wins!

But they are both amazing.

End of story

Not really end of story, unless one or both of them announce(s) her (their)retirement. Do you know something that we don't know? Maybe as a super Yuna fan you do know something the rest of us don't, has she announced her retirment? Yeah, since when did goldenskate turned into YuNa forum??

Goldenskater, I was talking to silverlake not you. And my point is not about updating. Anyway you brought up a point "updating until they retires? " You mean retire, and not retires right? Do you mean "they", or do you mean updating until she retires??

So if they/ she have/ has not retired yet, then how can silverlake conclude "end of story".

... o_O I think silverlake was just saying "end of story" as a conclusion (to her) of the raging debate of Mao vs. Yu-na, who's better? In reality, both are great skaters with unique strengths. :3 Silver didn't mean it literally, as in literally end of story... just as a conclusion of the fan wars.

... and there's no reason to respond so... angriily at Goldenskaters o_O 1). Yu-na forum? Visit the actual Yu-na forum and you'll see a world (universes actually) of difference -_- Discussing Yu-na on GS and having GS actually be a Yu-na forum is vastly different. At GS, there's a plethora of opiinions on Yu-na, ranging from WOW to meh. So even if she is being discussed (which is natural; she is considered one of the top skaters right now), it's not in the "I love Yu-na" fashion you'd find at her fan forum. No need to get snappy at anyone -_-

Ah.. I think silverlake started her/his post "in short YUna wins", and ended with "end of story". So for him/her the story ended, Yuna wins. But in reality, unless one or both retire, the story has not ended. And BTW, this thread is "stats brought to GS from Yuna forum" not about the raging debate of who is better.

Oh where is the anger, I didn't use any emoticon. BTW, when I was talking to Goldenskater, I ddin't brought up YuNa forum. I brought YuNa forum with silverlake. I only asked Goldenskater whether s/he mean "they retire" or "she retires"

I do not visit skater specific forums, not even Michelle forum, so I have no idea how vastly is the difference.
