Looking forward to seeing Ashley Wagner... She doesn't usually do these competitions, but this could be a testing ground for the new lutz.

Just curious at your prediction, have you seen these sakters skate yet, Shibs as senior debut and the new team Duhamel/Radford?

Duhamel&Radford have definetly the difficult content to make the podium in such a weak field, if they go clean of course..

And in Ice Dance is still all about reputation..Gold and Silver are pretty much a given unless P&B or C&L have 2 falls each.. Shibs may be debuting Senior but I think they have a much bigger international profile than the rest of the teams. RiazanovaTkachenko or MysliveckovaNovak can definetly contend for the bronze though..

 Kevin Van Der Perren is still competing! His retirement has been rumored ever since the end of his 2006 Olympics LP and yet he continues to show up on entry lists year after year.

Kevin van der Perren stated to the Belgian press that he was going to compete this season; it's once more said to be his last season, but I know that he's also expressed a wish in the past to skate at Euros 2012 when they are held in the UK (because of Jenna).

Question: is anyone attending this event? I've been looking into it, I'm not yet sure at all since the train appears to be pretty expensive in Germany. I haven't even found a website where you can buy event tickets, does anyone know?? Also; what hotel are the athletes usually staying in? Any travel tips at all are welcome! Thanks :)

You can buy tickets on site when you arrive. They won't sell out--even last year, when Stephan Lambiel and Savchenko and Szolkowy competed, there were plenty of seats available.

Oberstdorf has a few hotels and many vacation apartments (ferienwohnungen). The apartments are quite reasonably priced, and you can save a lot of money by preparing your own dinners.

If you prefer to eat out, but inexpensively, and enjoy seafood, there is a Nordsee restaurant in town. If you are a nonsmoker, this restaurant chain has the advantage of being completely smoke-free.

The lift to the top of the Nebelhorn is just a two-minute walk from the rink, and definitely worth going up on a clear day. If you choose to go hiking up there, you may be able to spot some chamoix (gemsen).

As of right now there is no Belgian anywhere near Van Der Perrin in skill level. That could change but right now he has a free ride to Euros and Worlds.
