She did compete in junior ladies events last summer.

Because she made the JGPF in pairs last season, she had no chance to make it to nationals because the challenge event took place the same time as the JGPF.

Skate Canada does not allow one to get a bye to nationals in one discipline because of a competition conflict in a different discipline. They instituted this last year.

Now that she has only one senior GP pairs event this year, she will be free to try to qualify in senior ladies if she chooses at the challenge ( no conflicts for her this year). More likely she is using the event for jump practice though.

Holy crap, huge FS score for Gao considering it's so early in the season! Wow. I hope videos come out soon.

Yes, Christina blows the field away!! Awesome about the 3f-3t. :) Now she has two great 3-3 combinations in her arsenal. Can't wait for videos!

Her jumps are wonderful and her maturity and presentation have improved so much since last year :). The only thing I wonder about is if her skating skills will hold her back from making it to the very top internationally, her basic skating is not the strongest compared to many other girls her age.

I like her SP better than the LP. Not too fond of Yellow River Piano Concerto for her (or the costume haha). Her jumps are definitely her strong point, and her expression has improved a lot too. Spins and skating skills are weaker, but I'm trusting Brian Orser with that I guess...

Wow she's come a long way in terms of presentation, musicality, and extension! Spins still need a lot of work, but those are improving too. Very nice!
