Tibbets/Brubaker: Eh. Lovely curve lift. He falls while skating, but they had enough time to set up the combo lift afterwards. Infelicities in their steps (too far apart a couple of times) and first rotational lift (litle off balance at one point, but not danger of dropping). He's very tall but they haven't really worked around that. But that was a lovely curve lift. American ice-dance is so deep.

She's in a bright light blue dress that doesn't flatter her
he's in black pants and a brown camo print v neck shirt with a stripe of the bright
blue that matches her
biellman around his neck short lift
better speed than T&B
crossing footwork for the twizzles
ended abruptly. problem?
f/w in close holds
nice lilt to their work
separation that went a bit long, intentional?
pair spin, slowing down to the reverse to the music box stuff
in Amelie waltz

Across the knee lift, very average
more f/w with kicks
break in music
little waltz jump in the f/w
music faster
rotational lift in a weak position
end.
Should score considerably better than T&B.

No flashes, camera people!

You know I really like the mood that Tibbetts and Brubaker creates with their programs- even with the hideous mistakes at this competition. They pick music that's not run of the mill and are a little different. Rachel reminds me a lot of a pre-blond Oksana Grischuk.

It almost seemed like they hadn't had enough time to practice their programs yet. If this is their first time on the senior international circuit- they must not have had to be "ready" with their programs this early in the season yet. It seemed like a few times they just forgot what to do next. I hope they keep going. I've seen them skate better than this competition would indicate.

No flashes, camera people!

That is my biggest pet peeve at an event like that. YOUR FLASH WILL NOT MAKE IT TO TEH ICE and chances are it will DARKEN THE SUBJECT before it will lighten it. If you don't know how to work your camera where it won't flash, don't bring it - or better yet, learn how to use it.

Hei's in the requisite white shirt with untied bow tie
(boredom icon) with black pants
She's in a white dress that hangs like culottes in the skirt someometimes
and looks like a very pale blue slip
clearly looking for a Tessa Virtue vibe
A kiss is just a kiss
very pretty rotational lift
they are deliberately working on their extensions
layback move, a little unsteady
jump into twizzles with arm flailing organized
lift around his neck to a pose lift with her facing him
pair spin with her with a lot of nice layback
Jimmy Durante singing A sigh is just a sign
that breaks the mood
another really pretty simple rotational lift
little stumble in the f/w
screen froze
lots of ballet arms in this program,
another lift
to end way after the music by the sound of it,
but hard to tell from the audience clapping.

Seriously. I refuse to like them until they stop slavishly copying V/M. Also Paul isn't Kurt Browning, take your hand(s) out of your pocket(s). But they certainly sold it. Those lifts were beautiful

A case of imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I suppose?

I liked their lifts too, but the ballet arm and pose stuff is kind of wrong for Casablanca. Rick is a tough customer in a bar, not the nutcracker prince.

And it was too funny that they used Jimmy Durante's version of As Time Goes By.

Good night Mrs. Calabash! wherever you are!

Oh my they really look like Tessa & Scott. I like them but it's kinda too similar on this FD.

they are really good skaters, nice lifts, lovely posture, nice speed....but they are just like mini V/M...they should work on a different style.
