Kiira's PCS should be in the 60s if they give Alissa and Mirai 55+ for those snooze fests.
What Kiira needs is to DROP the flip all together and add a 2A there. She would gain about 3-4 points while increasing her odd to a clean program. I would put Kiira about 10 points ahead of the other two.

Yeah you would and that's why you are not a JUDGE!

Frank Caroll can add just like you and I can. So there must be a reason why he wants Mirai to do a 2A instead of a 3S at the end. Maybe a stamina question?

I'm sure it's a stamina/consistency issue but it just seems odd to leave that jump out. She has done it many times without problem in the past and Frank is big on his skaters being complete, so what gives. She needs the points if she expects to beat Yu-Na or Mao (in top form).

Repeating the 3T as a solo jump doesn't make any sense to me even as a consistency issue, though. Her 3Lo is very consistent and it seems like she approaches that 3T with more hesitency than she does her 3Lo. Feels like she's just giving points away there.

Concerning Mirai's salchow, IIRC, Mirai had a salchow as her last jump until Golden West last year. Starting in 08-09, she was getting downgrades on it as well as having some hard falls (08 Skate America definitely), and then falling hard again at Golden West last year, after which it disappeared.

Care to say anything positive about any of the US ladies that are Rachael's competitors?

I was actually okay with Korpii winning since despite the mistakes, I thought she was better than Mirai performance-wise.

BUT I was looking at the protocol and it turns out that Korpii's severely UR Lutz which she fell on didn't even receive a < much less a <<. I watched the replay many times and am pretty sure that she only completed at most 2.5 revolutions. How is this even possible? As it was, she got full credit for a 3 Lutz (base value 6.0) and weighted -2.1 GOE, which gave her a total of 3.9. Now, had that jump received a << as it should have, Korpii would have received 2.1 base value - 0.6 GOE = 1.5 for the Lutz attempt. Her total score would have been 2.4 pts lower, which would have given Mirai the win!

Watched the Korpi performance on the big screen broadcast earlier today. That jump ntl mentions was definitely underrotated so I also don't understand the protocols. One hates to think the tech caller would play favorites or be dazzled by Finnish beauty, so is there another explanation?

Let's go there. Mirai's flutz received 0 from 2 judges in the short program. I'm very sure an edge call must result in negative GOE.

In the LP, one judge actually gave her +1 for her wonderful flutz.

If Rachael's competitors have something positive, I will mention them. They just don't. :disapp: Rachael fixed her flutz, her flip. Mao is fixing hers. Kim fixed her. Miki fixed her. The other girls didn't even bother. So, I have nothing nice to say about them.

Hmm, the referee is a male Finn, but technical controller and specialist & assistant technical specialist are all women and have no Finnish sounding names, so why would they favour Kiira?

I thought her 3Lz was underrotated as well. Perhaps the tech specialists really did make a mistake because they were too captivated by her look? ;) Kiira is stunning to look at regardless whether you are a man or woman. :)

"They just don't" :rolleye:

FYI, Rachael has NOT entirely fixed her Lutz. The jump is supposed to take off from a BACK outside edge. She slides more forward on the takeoff. That's why it still looks wonky...because she isn't pressing with the correct part of the blade. She has rotation issues as well. The jump is always short; not always enough for a downgrade, but sometimes.

And on the seventh day She rested, right? Mirai, Caroline, and Alissa are all reportedly working on their technique, so I wouldn't say they aren't trying. The only reason some don't see it, is they choose not to.

The two techs were Heffernan (CAN) and Kustarova (SVK). Here's the interesting twist: if one of the techs thought Kiira's lutz was UR and the other one disagreed, guess whose vote resolves the conflict? The Tech Controller, Lakernik (RUS). I suspect the latter would rather see a European lady on top of the podium than a US lady, especially since the Euro lady is breathtakingly beautiful and comes from a neighboring country.

Since when did this become Mirai versus Rachael? I think Rachael is undermarked in PCS and I think Mirai is, too. Both ladies are hit with URs and negative GOEs that others get by with. Bashing Mirai won't help Rachael, and vice versa.

When it comes to the EMOTIONAL skate of TEB, one cannot rule out Cythia Phaneuf as the most emotional skater to her music. She made me aware that there is something to skating via the music as well as the tricks.

Different strokes, I guess, because I found that program dull.

Since someone said I have nothing positive to say about Rachael's competitors. I was merely pointing out all of Mirai's flaws because the same crowd kept on saying she wuzrobbed. She wasn't. If anything, Kiira wuzrobbed, I thought she won the LP.

I saw the ladies last night, too bad I missed it afterall, Mirai's program is really nice and her new dress also, I think it was my best program of the night. I also like her sp and especially the moment she is mxing her portions is my favorite. Kira is highlighting her diva with this program, I like both her programs this year, and Mao..pops and all, it is nice to see her so light again, after the Moscow Bells this was a relief.
