Ivana Reitmayerova is strugling with injuries the whole season so far. Has problems with her hip and now also with her back. She decided to skip the Nationals in the last minute, so no Europeans for her. The same goes for her brother Peter.

Verner is ahead of Brezina, even though Verner fell. I also see even with a fall, Verner's TES is higher.

Ice Dance, I am surprised it is even close between Mysliveckova and Novak CZE and Visnova and Csolley SVK. In fact, M&N are ahead on PCS only. (probably blew the twizzles again, if I had to guess. And not as good Golden Waltz segments as earlier in the season).

Verner fell on a spin, so not a huge point loss and that's probably why his TES is ahead of Brezina. All his jumps were landed nicely (not sure if he got "e" on his flip or not though), and Michal stepped out of the 3a and only did 3f-2t as his combo so it makes sense his TES would be lower.

Muži: 1. Verner 221,20, 2. Březina 202,76, 3. Kaška 184,53, ...6. Coufal 158,44, 8. Vašíček (všichni ČR) 146,42.

So I think that means Verner won, but he had some mistakes.

The protocols are posted within the result page, which has the link here in this thread a few messages earlier:

Those who complained why Verner doesn't do a quad anymore, you can now calm down, he did here, and fell on it:biggrin:, and also fell on his flip and got a negative GOE on his second axel.
Brezina is really struggling, post injury, fell on a 3 axel, doubled a flip and singled a lutz.

LOL falling on a quad in nationals is just what Lysacek did last year! He's more Lysacek than ever!!! LOL. That is just a joke. I mean good luck to him at Euros (but not really if he does Lysacek's layout almost exactly again like he did at Cup of Russia)!

He landed a nice quad in the warmup before the FS at the GPF, so I think he still has it. The rink the nationals was held at was also reportedly freezing and caused a lot of skaters to struggle, so none of this seems too surprising to me. Keep in mind he was in Beijing just last week, and idk if he went to Canada in between or not but he was probably jetlag regardless. I think Tomas and Michal probably both suffered from the rink conditions, travel, and jetlag - now they have time to rest and be in top shape for Euros!

Also, looking at the protocols, it seems like Tomas didn't give his all at this competition and was just doing enough to win. I mean he only did 2 combos and he didn't do any 3 jump combos either, on top of the 2 falls and doubling the salchow, so the 146 score isn't that concerning. He could have added about 5 points by simply adding a 3 jump combo, and usually his salchow is beautiful and his flip consistently landed. Michal's protocol also makes it seem like he didn't put it all out there and was just trying to get his legs back. He is capable of much better, and I bet at Euros they will not make such silly mistakes when medals are on the line and something like leaving out a 3 jump combo could make a big difference.

It does look like Verner still has a quad. The tech people gave him credit for a full rotation of it and two judges gave him negative twos instead of threes so maybe he landed it and then slipped. I haven't seen the video of it yet but based on what previous -2's have meant I guessed that. It definitely seems like he wants to do it and I hope for his sake that he does it because of that fact.

I agree. Tomas has always seemed like one of those skaters who loves the quad. Sort of like how Dai attempted it all last season and even at the Olympics even though he hadn't landed it all fall in competition. I mean at Czech nats, he definitely didn't need the quad to win, but he went for it anyways. And at the GPF, if he had done his COR layout he very likely would have finished ahead of Dai there, but he tried to do the quad there too, tripled it, and then his jump layout was not that competitive. I'm sort of glad he hasn't delivered anything great yet because I think it means he's training to peak at Europeans. At the same time though, he's scored over 144 points for his FS at all of his competitions thus far this season, and that's huge for Tomas because it means he hasn't laid an egg with pop-itis like he has so many times in the past. It's funny, because he used to be a SP skater, but it seems like this season he's become a more of a FS skater! I'm excited for Euros, there are lots of strong men this season but at the same time the field is pretty wide open. Hoping Tomas and Michal kick some butt there!
