^Yes she did, but I heard thru the grapevine that her SP was magnificent. Waiting anxiously for the video.

Congrats to Hanyu!

According to his fan report, he was injured during official practice ( I hope it's not serious). I was eagerly anticipating seeing his performance as a defending champion...

Yes, per Hanyu wins Men’s short at Nebelhorn Trophy, September 23, 2011 - by Tatjana Flade, "Tatsuki Machida of Japan, the defending Nebelhorn Trophy Champion, withdrew after the morning practice citing injury. He sprained his right leg in practice on Wednesday."

I wish him the quick recovery.

NorthernDancers and Colleen, I'm not expecting R/H to make any huge breakthroughs this season either, especially with Paul/Islam having a virtual lock on nationals bronze and the third spot to worlds. Nor should they. P/I are far superior, IMO, and Ralph and Hill seem to have really leveled off the past few seasons. For a while, it seemed like they were really on a roll, but they've just stopped getting better. Maybe a change of coach/choreographer would do them well?

skatingfan04..I'd hope for a change in coaching/ choreographer if no breakthrough occurs , but then , I was hoping for that after their results at Nationals last year..I don't want to hijack this thread, though. I'm curious to see what happens in the FD.

( and I'm praying for YouTube..)

WOW Mirai! Loved her SP.

Ummm, I am not as impressed as you are. And is not because of what Mirai did, but rather Lori Nichol leaves me underwhelmed these days. From Lori, knowing what she is capable of, I am expecting great work. She doesn't capture the tempo changes in the music in the last part of the program, starting from the flying camel spin. The arrangement of the jumps was fine, but the footwork doesn't stand out as much as it should. I like the music and it could have been a great program choreographically, but it isn't.

Overall, US have great outings for what they consider as the first senior international competition of the season. Two gold medals (ladies and ice dance) & two bronzes (men & even pairs )

Good job, guys. ;) I'm so proud of them.

Yes, I don't see H&G having an easy time catching R&H after this kind of season debut.

However, they did one of these Senior B's and finished behind Arnold and Trojek at it last season--they need to rethink this philosophy of showing up not in perfect shape, maybe? Either don't go, or start training earlier.

However, did at least H&G got their qualifying score for SC perhaps? I'm rather misty about what the number is???
