The absolute very best program, bar none, that I have seen to Japanese Kodo Drums is Elvis Stojko. Sorry, Michal, yours does not measure up in any way, shape, or form. Also, the sash & bulky looking ankles caused by the costume have got to go. :p Still, I love his powerful 3A, though he stalks it.

Usually the more expectations there are regarding a GP event, the more it disappoints. I see this appear to be the case today - good thing I'm not in Bercy myself this year!

Not perfect, but it will more than enough for the lead.

Hmm, Patrick fell on his opening jump, but his overall skating is fabulous. I'd give him the win over Song.

This wasn't a great competition. Everyone skated as if they had jet lag.

One cannot deny Chan's lightness of foot and ease of jumps (when completed that is), but I find his acting skills so studied, not natural, which makes me think of the tinman from the Wizard of Oz. :D

Chan

Score: 84.16, new SB and into the lead by a comfortable margin.

Hopefully the men will skate better tomorrow....

LOL but it's true, he didn't seem to connect with the audience here.

does it look to you as if Chan has a cold? He looked like he might be ill to me. Hope not. Too bad on the fall; the rest was good. Not the best SPs today - jet leg, illness, ice issues, nerves?

No protest from me about the marks, they look just right, Nan Song is slow... He really needs to up his speed by mass imho. Should be an interesting FS though to see whom will get the silver & bronze, as Chan is a lock for gold (especially in this field). :p

He also needs a hair cut. I just hope he doesn't channel Kevin Reynold's hair...

It's odd that so far this year, Chan's 3A is more consistence than his 4T?

I think Patrick is bored by now with his own sp. Other than that everybody skated like they were drunk of champagne.
So much talk about the men event here,I liked COC and NHK much better.

And yet the only skater I'd give a pass for not skating well is Romain Ponsart, who didn't find out he'd be going until - what was it, Tuesday? And his first GP, too!

One cannot deny Chan's lightness of foot and ease of jumps (when completed that is), but I find his acting skills so studied, not natural, which makes me think of the tinman from the Wizard of Oz. :D
I wouldn't go so far, but while some degree of musical interpretation can be taught, a natural feel for music (of the sort Lambiel or Buttle have) is innate, and Chan doesn't have that going for him. He also lacks the charisma some of the other top skaters have, which together might explain the muted reaction Spun Silver observed. Or they might have been bored after such a blah event.

Nan Song wins on TES! He'll be hard to hold back if he keeps this up. I saw him at TEB last year but can only recall a truly ugly yellow shirt in the LP (I'm sure you can guess what his music was ;)).

I think Patrick is bored by now with his own sp.
Can you blame him?
