My number one wish is that San Jose goes all-out for Michelle Kwan's induction ceremony. More than that, I hope they broadcast all of it!! :D

Well, Takahashi has ditched 4F at GPF and Japan Nationals and took on 4T in SP and LP. He might do the same at this Worlds.

Jep, it's probably more likely he'll stick with the 4T... you're completly right about that. But I still think if he gets the 4F to be more consistent in his training, he might think of that about 2 points it's worth more than the 4T worth taking the risk to try it again. He is the type to make risks and rather go all out than playing it save, and he does want to be able to keep up with Chan, so at least I can hope it might happen
This is just a wish list after all ;)

I think for the last couple of years, Takahashi had little chance of landing either 4T or 4F because of his hampered knee. 4F actually caused him less pain and, with equal penalties for a 4F fall as for a 4T fall, it made sense to go for a 4F since it would give him more points with a fall due to its higher BV. As his knee is healed this season, his chances of landing 4T have increased, thus he is now going for his 4T and has already seen success. I expect that it's far less likely for him to attempt the much riskier 4F this season.

Again, I'm well aware of that... but with his knee being better again, his jumps look better over all, and he is fairly capable of landing beautiful 4F's - I caught a trainings video (before it was taken off again :sheesh: ) and it looked so amazing. His chances for landing a 4F alone are better than before too.

But I can change that last point to "Takahashi trying 4F again and getting it clean"... if that sounds so different

Well, since it's a wish list:

1. Musicality, choreography, and performance quality being regarded as equal in importance to technical merit and being judged accurately.

2. Skaters focusing on the artistic/creative side of the sport more thoroughly (which they would if it was scored better). Personality and uniqueness being shown more frequently.

3. ISU voting for the many remaining changes to CoP that are needed.

4. The sport regaining more interest from audiences.

5. All of my skating, transportation, and medical costs being paid for through an angel grant.

6. More skaters coming to me for choreography and advisory input.

Blades, do skaters come to you? They should. I've seen the skating program plans you put up--notably that one for Korpi. You really have a handle on layouts.

2. Two major sponsors for him.

Skateluvr gives winning advice to Worlds and Olympic champions without charge. What is your competitive edge? :)

Oh that's rich.

But I would say - ingenuity, tech specialist qualification, a honed athletic body, and according to at least one coach at Lake Arrowhead, "the biggest Triple Flip they've ever seen" (that's probably a bit generous, I don't think they've been on the ice with Brian Joubert). Now somebody sell me more clout.

Blades, do skaters come to you? They should.

Just novice level thus far.

Blades of Passion - wish list 1 thru 4, definitely a +1 in my books...Number 5 - can't help you out there, but will an unlimited Starbucks gift card help, LOL? and #6 - perhaps the ISU should come up with a rule that each skater/team ranked in the top 10 HAS to use at least a different MAIN choreographer every 3 years - spread the $$$ around...and the decrease the recycling of elements/programs...cough Mozorov...cough S/Z...cough...Nichols...cough...even Wilson...

But it's what you can do for your clients that matters more than how good your are yourself, though that's important as initial credentials. In marketing, it's always the benefits, not the features, that sell. You have to answer "what's in it for me?"

Fans may criticize the top choreographers but elite skaters go to them because they are proven champion makers.

Obviously.

And when "name" choreography skated by "top" competitors receives higher scores than deserved, and when truly brilliant artistry is never properly rewarded unless the skater has been anointed, the cycle will never be broken. Skaters at all levels will continue to play it as safe/boring/unoriginal as needed and flock to the same help without considering new ideas.

It's like this to some degree in any establishment in life, but especially so in modern day figure skating.

Outside the Ladies, many top skaters do have distinctive styles and interesting programs within the COP stipulations.

Maybe you can videotape yourself skating your own choreography for marketing purposes. I'm sure many GS member would love to see it.

In terms of programs whether short or long, I am not a fan of elite skaters that a program for a second consecutive year. Although I like Patrick Chan's skating, as a World Champion, there is no excuse for him to have used Take Five again this year for the SP. If he choses to keep his current LP for next year - that will be extremely disappointing.
