I like #4CC and some individual twitter pages. #4CC2012 and #figureskate are mostly Japanese and a lot of RT on good reports on Japanese skaters.

for me the two 3A that she did in practice looked absolutely magnificent and completely fully rotated, her height was awesome and the fast rotation is so amazing to see, can't wait for the competition to begin and wish her all the best... can't believe that only one or two month ago her mother died, she really is unbelievable, wonder where she always gets the strength from!

Nope, I agree with icellist, based on the video that Japanese TV showed, her 3A from practice is clearly not fully rotated as part of the rotation is still finished on ice. Probably not enough to warrant < but as far as GOE is concerned, -1 in my book.

Hubbell & Donahue were only US dance team on practice today. Said they hoped for a top 10 finish at Worlds. Worried a bit about altitude here in Colo Spgs, but Weaver & Poje and Virtue & Moir said they felt confident it was not a problem as long as they didn't have to speak immediately after they finished their program! Ha! Anyway, everyone had good practice today. Davis & White and the Shibs have early morning practice tomorrow and we will get them at the Mixed Zone afterward for a comment. V&M have gone back to the original ending of their SD and Virtue has a stunning new dress for the SD. Costumes not changed for the FD.

Tessa has new short dance dress, violet with gold beaded flowers, "puffy" skirt and criss-cross back. Lovely.

How's attendance?

from the practice youtube videos, mao's 3A looks < and her 3F-3L looks awfully similar to a 3F-2L. But if she says she'll do it, i'll be waiting intently for the ladies for her to prove me wrong. hope streaming links will be posted up

I didn't see any 3-3 combo videos from practice, only 3A and 3F-2L. Do you have any video?
I think her 3A is borderline UR from the practice videos. It can go either way, depends on the technical specialist( If she lands one in the competition,of course)

I'm so excited that Mao is trying everything. Does anyone know how the altitude is affecting her? Has she spent time training at a higher altitude?

All the Japanese ladies said their jumps were easier here in altitude but it affected their stamina so it is likely that there will be some affect in the long program. Don't know if any of them had altitude training, seems unlikely from their comments.

Kanako was treated for anemia and stomachache due to the low oxygen level. I hope she's OK and will compete.

Jeremy Abbott & Alissa Czisny are both here today at the practice rink. Abbott said it's his first day back on the ice. Said his body just felt he needed the rest after Nationals and that 4 Continents was just too close after Nationals. Didn't get to speak to Alissa but since both Yuka and Jason are here, Jeremy and Alissa came as well. Jeremy said he'd never been to Nice, France before and was looking forward to it. Same for the Shibs and Davis & White. Both Meryl & Charlie speak French, but Meryl's accent is better, so Charlie defers to her.

Actually, I'll bet a cookie they end up in Italy, Meryl's favorite place in the World. Charlie likes Japan, AFAIR, and one other country whose identify escapes me just now. They talked about it in on of the IN interview pieces.

Nice is small and a bit boring. You can definitely check out the entire thing for a few hours.
I suggest they make a trip to Marseille, which is only an hour train ride away. My favorite french food is from Marseille.

What's "minute issues"?

No idea, but he was called sluggish and having trouble settled in. I guess general subpar skating as opposed to success or problems with the big jumps. With Patrick, his competition performance cannot be predicted from his practice. Never know what he would surprise you with. :)

eta: This is what he said about how he felt yesterday:

Chan, who trains in Colorado Springs, said the ice felt different than in recent practice sessions and that contributed to his hiccup.

“They changed the ice, and the temperature was a little different. I could feel it,” said Chan, who won gold at the 2009 Four Continents Championships. “I was on it last Friday, a week ago, and it feels different than then. So, little things like that change things, and that’s why it makes it feel a little bit foreign.

“It really makes me feel like I’m at an international competition and not at home.”

Chan said he didn’t feel at ease during the warm-up session, either.

“The six-minute warm-up was a little shaky,” he said. “I was having trouble finding my feet and staying grounded. I was getting high in the shoulders and tight in my upper body, so my jumps weren’t as poppy.”
