alithia on the Russian Ice dance thread says that the music from Ekaterina Bobrova & Dmitri Soloviev RUS
SD is the opening credits from "Air Crew" by -by Schnittke
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kth_r...-button&wide=1

I don't think the whole program has music from that movie. The music from "Air Crew" is near the end. The beginning sounds like a Russian march. Either way, the whole program seems to have Russian music.

Thanks DianaSelene!

Another person says the first part of B&S's SD is

Трубачи-О бедном гусаре замолвите слово
Trumpeters poor hussar -O Say a Word

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAOf9Fnc_k0

A march from a Russian movie soundtrack. Google translate did the translation...but I would appreciate a more correct one.

Going by dorispulaski's update, Whitney Miller & Kyle MacMillan is the first junior ice dance team I know of that's skating to a rap song for the SD this season. I'm guessing they're skating to this song. It's a splendid choice as it is a rap song that includes bluesy elements.

Another ice dance team will skate to Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love", but I won't consider that skating to rap unless they include Jay-Z's verse.

ice-dance.com has reports of Junior SD c, Senior SD A, and Senior SD B. ...

They also think C&B were doing some kind of Cirque du Soleil

Doris and others prob. know this by now, but just in case -- per new IN article today:

Chock/Bates:
SD to music from Cirque de Soleil
FD to Maurice Jaffe's Dr. Zhivago

The lengthy IN article (which also has other news from Lake Placid) describes C/B's FD and SD elements, and provides quotes from them (+ Shpilband).
Their SD "opens with Chock playing a circus performer, teetering on a tight rope. Bates is kneeling, an adoring look in his eyes, ready to catch her."

The article also has brief comments from C/B on training under Shpilband:
"Fortunately, we were on vacation when Igor's split with the Canton rink happened," Bates said. "If it had to happen, obviously this was the perfect time, right at the start of the season."
"We are now actually Igor's only U.S. senior team, but we are training with couples from an amazing number of countries: Russia, Poland, Canada, Lithuania and Italy," Chock said. "We have plenty of ice time."

Karen Chen (her 3Lz-3Lo combo in her SP and her entire LP) from the Silicon Valley Open! Incredible!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ3i-WkWkpU

Well hot damn! I talked up Karen Chen before, but I didn't expect her to progress this fast in such a short time! Last I saw, a few months back at the US nationals, her money jumps were her beautiful 3lutz and her 2axel/3toe combo. Now she's added a 3lutz/3loop to her arsenal! The landing looked iffy on some of them, though, but the one in the FS seemed pretty good. Her flip still looks lipped, unfortunately (but fortunately, the flip is worth much less than the lutz, which she has right). And did you see the final 3lutz she did as part of some really intricate footwork? I don't think i've ever seen a skater make a 3lutz look like it's part of an elaborate footwork sequence before. Good stuff all around.

I find it interesting/amusing that the only 2 dance teams I recall ever skating to the music from Yentl are both from Italy--first Faiella & Scali and now Bernardi & Mior ;) I wonder whether Bernardi & Mior will say they are butterflies, too?

Perhaps, since both teams were coached by the same person, and had the same choreographer.
