Other than GOE's and base values for all the pattern dances that are new to the list, the one GOE difference is the scoring for the new

Choreographic Dance Lift
ChLi -3 -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3
-0.1 -0.1 -0.1 0.2 0.3 0.8 1.3

It's interesting that there is no difference in the deduction for screwing it up for -1, -2, -3.

From the other document, so far the biggest change is that they are going to go after people who screw up their timing to hit the key point descriptions in the Pattern Dance part of the SD fairly aggressively in GOE:

Not holding Edges/Steps for required number of beats for one or both partners:
 from one Edge/Step up to 10% of Steps of the Pattern Dance Element
+1
 for more than 10% and up to 25% of Steps of the Pattern Dance Element
0

And a good deal of verbiage that I have to chew through, which essentially sets up the Choreographic Lift, and how you tell it from the non choreographic lifts.

This will lose you a GOE on your twizzles

Generally more than two arm length between partners
Decrease 1 grade

The following will increase your GOE in the 2nd step sequence:

Second Step Sequence (Free Dance) performed at an obviously different skating tempo than first Step Sequence
1 grade

Doing a dance lift to the music will increase your GOE:
Dance Lift is creative and enhances the choreography of the program
Increase 1 grade

And

In chart of Adjustments to Program Components:
 in column Interpretation/Timing: delete “violation of music restrictions (Short Dance**) (with a maximum total of -2.0)” and related details,
 in column Composition/Choreography: delete “Transitional Dance Lift(s)/Spin reflect character of the music/dance: +0.5 (in total)”.

I'll have to read through this more carefully later--

Ah, I see. Because the base mark is only 0.2, so there's no room to distinguish negative grades without getting into hundredths of a point.

Basically, if you do it acceptably, you get 0.2. If you do it recognizably but with flaws, you get half of that (0.1). And if you screw it up so badly that it isn't even called as an element, you get nothing.

The base value is negligible, but if you do it very well you can add a full point or more to your total score.

Now, let me go to Communication 1721 and find out exactly what a Choreographic Dance Lift is.
Dance Lift of up to 10 (ten) seconds performed after all the other required Dance Lifts. The Choreographic Dance Lift will be awarded a fixed Base Value and evaluated by the Judges in Grade of Execution only.

Looking at the well-balanced program rules, it seems there are choices about whether or not to use this kind of lift at junior and senior levels. I haven't studied the dance rules closely yet.

The point is that here is an opportunity to do a lift that shows off something your team can do especially well and/or that enhances the program theme, without worrying about levels. The place to earn points is on positive GOE. It's not a lot of points, but it's an addition to another short lift instead of one long lift for levels. So it'll be worth doing if you can do short lifts and choreographic lifts well and struggle with the longer lifts and/or higher levels.

And novices are supposed to do one.

Base value of .2 is so stupid. The only element that should have such a meaningless base value is a single toeloop.

Well, dance had transitional lifts and transitional spins that got you zero points, period, but were identified to make sure you didn't get penalized for an extra element for doing them, and could conceivably add to your PCS transitions mark. 0.2 to 1 point is better than nothing or a penalty, I suppose
