Davankova's grown up soo much since last season, I barely recognized her! Doesn't seem to be hurting the partnership though! Love this pair!

Nooooo.. such low score for D/D
they butchered a SBS jump and first throw

they looked exhausted
I hope they get another JGP assignment, they were off their best today

I know d and d were off their game but did they really deserve to be ten points back of the lead?

Yes, D&D's pair spin was called an illegal element. And P&M earned over 4 points for theirs. D&D got pretty low PCS scores, comparatively too.

D/D have been consistently scoring low PCS, this is something they need to work on
though I'm sure they know because in an interview they said they are more of Technical skaters and are working on polishing their artistry.

I hope on their next JGP, they get to polish their new programs
maybe a few Cup of Russia series competitions will help alot

Polishing artistry won't do it alone -what they need to work on is skating skills & speed, I suspect. Modern PCS scores have very little to do with "artistry" as they are currently defined.

Do you know what is illegal about the pair spin? Does that mean they did something they should not have or the pair spin lacked something important?

Even with the spin though, they would have been far behind Purdy and Marinaro who also had a big mistake

In the Pairs tech manual, this is what is listed for a zero counting pair spin:

No basic position on one foot by one/both partners Any
Change of foot: less than 3 revolutions before/after by one or both partners 0
One/both partners do not have at least 2 continuous revs in 2 basic positions 0

D/D were behind the canadians by 10 points. If you take into account the illegal pair spin, they lost about 4-5 points because of it. If they would have done a correct spin, they only would have been 5 points behind P/M. And P/M beat D/D by 5 points in pcs which made the difference. Also, I think D/D were somewhat underscored. While they had some mistakes, they had really low GOE even on elements that they executed well. Their sp was much cleaner and yet they got zeroes quite often. D/D deserved second place but should not have been 10 points lower than P/M.
